1/18 buildings: Stone house.

Huzzah! I've made one more!

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on it because I might try to sell a few.
I finished this one up because I'm currently with out a compressor and all the airbrushing was done on this one. Gotta get one ASAP, things really back up fast!

I've listed it on EBay for $75. Do you guys think that's too much? I've put about 10 hours into it ruffly.

I've got a pile of about 10 of them ready to be assembled.

I have been getting slightly bogged down with school so less time to model. And other things that eat my time up.

I just wanted to finish this because it's been on my bench for 2 months.

After I get a compressor, I've got a few more commissioned pieces left then I will start bunkers!!!

Awesome detail and amazing signage on the building.
Can you use the 2nd floor of the building for figures/furniture/stuff? Or is it more for show?
75.00 seems like a fair price, but no telling how much it would go up on Ebay.

Thanks man!!! Yea... no... lol. There are WAY better modelers here than me! I do what I can though. Always learning though!

@Razor, well, yea it does hold stuff for only being balsa wood! It held a few figures and a piece of furniture. It sagged a bit as I moved them to the edge though.
I plan on making a building ruin with a staircase soon! Also, have you ever see a non destroyed house? That is on the drawing board! They did not ALL blow up. That's the plan, work on bunkers and more houses!

Very nice and impressive work! Certainly worth $75 (that's only 7.50 an hour for your time!!). Personally, I'd like to see a little more open space inside - maybe twice as long as wide. Of course you'd have to ask more for something larger..

I love dioramas but they are not profitable to make, so much time involved... I need bricks!! If I bought this piece I would want lots of rubble and bricks to place around it for my tank to roll through... are you going to make "detail bags" of rubble to go with these buildings??

Yeppers! They will be separate though. Just to keep the initial building cost down. Still not sure on bricks though. I have to figure out a good way of making them. Check out build a ramas

I doubt foam would work well. That is this weeks project. Going to try to make cheap rubble that matches my work.

I think I might make them from plaster of paris tinted dark brown red. I might have a good way to do it. still thinking.

I have lots of the buildarama bricks but I think they are over sized, the 1/35 bricks are closer in my opinion and look better. I would love if you found a way to make them effectively!

Just an idea, considering the price and not ideal size of build-a-rama bricks. I saw in a do-it-yourself store self, air drying clay and clay that can be dried/hardened in the oven at low temperature. Why not lowering the mass with a rolling pin just to the right height, put it in a square oven cake pan (don't know the correct name in english), than trace with a knife and a square set the bricks, and go into the oven. I saw white, grey and red-brown clay...
If you don't want your wife to get furious when you work in her kitchen:
- Ask her to make the job for you, less damage risk for her
- Send her to her family for 1 day (but don't use a sharp knife because of scratches), its cheaper than a week-end at the seaside with her college friends).
I've gave up the idea, prefered to pour concrete on a wire mesh to make a small custom house that can be seen in the topic outdoor diorama. But if you need a huge lot of bricks...

I am going to probably make them from plaster of paris in molds from styrene. Basically, strips of styrene on another piece of styrene. Then poor plaster of paris in each groove (Same width/height as brick. Then score the long logs of plaster before fully dry so I can break them at each point. Badabing, insta bricks!

If you need a huge quantity of bricks: I think you could try with hobby air drying clay or low temperature oven dried/hardened clay. In my favorite do-it-yourself store, its cheap. Then, lower the mass to the right height of the bricks you want, put the thing in an oven square pan, trace with a set square and a round ended knife (scratches...) all the bricks, put the pan in the oven... Different possibilities:
- Ask your wife to make it for you, less damages in her kitchen
- Make it yourself, but send your wife for a day in her familiy (cheaper than a week-end at the seaside with her college girl-friends)
It should cost less than build-a-rama bricks.
