I pop into the local
Ben Franklin craft store every few weeks to browse. I found some synthetic grass mats in the clearance isle. They were $1.50 each so I grabbed them. No idea what these would be used for..they are woven into a jute backing.

Ben Franklin stores still exist? Damn I miss those. When I was little every town had one.

Wow they look great! I wonder if Michel's or AC Moore sells them.
Looks like it would work with this scale.

That looks good. Beats using the real stuff and having to glue it to a base.

No Ben Franklin's around here. But cool find. Could imagine a diorama being made using those.

Nothing on the mats, but I plan on talking to the floral dept at BF to see if they can help me track them down.

They'd probably work OK for 1/32 as well if you were doing a Nam' dio and trying to model Elephant Grass, the first pic where it looks kinda wavy and windswept looks kinda like the Elephant Grass pics I've seen where the Cav air assault choppers in Nam' are landing and unloading troops.

Went to Michaels on Sunday... no luck, then checked Ben Franklin online couldn't find any reference to this product. If you find anything let us know.

Here's what I was able to find. The company that makes them is called Raz Imports Inc. out of Texas. They were used in the Ben Franklin store with Easter displays for years, and may be disontinued. I am going to try calling them when I get some time. Hopefully they can help me out.
