Re: 1/144 Glenco Models Martin China Clipper in War Paint

Prop Blurs huh, I like them. Found the F-Toys Grumman Goose on Ebay for a reasonable price from a Hong Kong seller, though it's the post war version. My Altaya USN Martin Mariner, though I like how you blurred the two blues together on the Clipper instead of a solid line separating them, did you use...

Re: 1/144 Glenco Models Martin China Clipper in War Paint

Nice work JR. That's got to be a big model. Got a soft spot for the flying boats and floatplanes too. Have every one of the diecast now except for the grey Italian floatplane. I thought about getting one of the F-Toys Goose and changing it to a WWII, or Pre-war. How did you do the props on it? They ...

Re: A-10 "not a survivable platform"

Cutting the A-10 is penny wise and pound foolish. The general is correct, we have no replacement. Since close air support is so necessary with today's conflicts, the A-10 serves a true purpose. Helicopter gun ships are great but they are probably more vulnerable to ground fire or even SAMs as well ...

Anybody got a spare tail wheel for a 1:18 P-40?

Had my Flying Tiger hanging up for years, didn't notice it was missing one till now.

It probably fell out from getting bumped or something, got vacuumed up....gone. :?

Yay! Finally proof the only new 1:18 WWII aircraft since the Dauntless could possibly be made soon.

This is encouraging. 8)

Re: Air Force 1 Models X-47B

Not likely those hinges look like that in real life? I choose not to buy much modern aircraft, but AF1 seems to be suffering the fate of other companies that came before with unnecessary play features. It's like Dragon Warbirds 1:72 planes that have ailerons, rudders, flaps that move, super detailed...

Re: Corgi 1/72 Vulcan- who's getting one?

It's that tactile feeling that one is getting something of worth if it weighs more. A well done plastic model looks the same as the die cast one beside it till you touch or pick them up. I remember being attracted to 21st C 32X armor if it said "Cold Steel" on the box I knew it had some metal on it ...

Re: Corgi 1/72 Vulcan- who's getting one?

Makes sense, the Sunderland is supposedly based on the Airfix/ Hornby model. Funny many of us here have been saying the same things for years about pre-built partial assembly required plastic models. Many of the die cast crowd won't be pleased like you say, but I'm already used to that with 21st Cen...

Re: Corgi 1/72 Vulcan- who's getting one?

Looks impressively huge.

I haven't collected many 1:72 jets, or I'd probably buy one. For the large Cold War jets I've stuck to smaller scales and this doesn't look like something I have to have.

Besides got to save for a 1:72 Sunderland.

Re: New Line of 1/72 WWI planes coming..

These look interesting. Maybe an option for those who want a little better quality than the Amercom, or who don't collect 1:48. I don't see any wire supports on the wings, perhaps too small for this kind of detail. It's gotten too expensive to collect much of the 1:48 Corgi offerings as some have re...

Yeah seems at least each forum site has it's own heavy influence for a certain brand (except this one)

In short it's reasonable to assume some who comment have a vested interest in their brands selling and others shot down I gather.

Yeah, including me. It really doesn't look that bad. The cowl flaps bug though. Surprising and unnecessary. I hope they don't do that on the announced B-17, though that's expected to be a 1:48 Franklin Mint re-release, which in itself is a dubious and doubtful thing. Hopefully a new 1:72 inste...

I don't have a Sturmovik. Thought about buying an Altaya, but I try to avoid them lately because of the black lines. Have to check one out, thanks. Good to know, thanks Studly. When I first started collecting the 1:18 planes, they never told us or had anything on the box telling who flew them. Except later with the Taylor and Welch Tomahawks. Neville Duke must have gotten a P-40E Warhawk, or Kittyhawk for the RAF after that, as it's offered in ...

Kudos for putting one together HP. 8) Think I'd have to go for one already made, but would like to have a silver one in this scale. It's good to see these are still holding their value somewhat, even when there aren't as many people with money to spend.

Cool that you got one Aferguson.

I've pretty much gotten all I want from FOV. A few duds, but some of them are better like the Stuka.

Though the Welch P-40 Tomahawk comes with u/c landing gear now. Like to get one in flight and another to make into a Kenneth Taylor.

Just a twin bomber, but I can imagine the size next to one the 21stC fighters we're used to is large.

well these have finally been released and guess what....they look WORSE than the prototype pictures. Canopy is not even clear plastic but a foggy whiteish plastic....framing isn't even painted. Paint schemes are terrible. I wouldn't buy 'em for $10. What a shame. http://www.flyingmule.com/products/...
