Re: Big 20% off at Shapeways this week
Lots of interesting item available, I had no idea there was so much being modeled in 1:18. Looks like someone is trying to make all the parts for a scale Aircraft carrier. Which would be....impressive.

Wanted: BBI british para gear

Re: Unimax Ages of Action
I would have wanted multiples of all, even the Egyptian which never made it to production. The only one I don't have any use for is the ninja. And it's the only one I've ever seen for sale.

Unimax Ages of Action
Were these ever in general release? I never saw any at retail or even a discount store. I've been checking auctions and the only one I've seen in months is the ninja, never any of the others loose or packaged. When first announced there was quite of lot of interest, then like so much other 1:18 they...

Box sizes?
I'm remodeling some closet space and want to calculate for display/storage of 1:18 aircraft (assuming if and when I find any that are affordable. Wishful thinking!). Can someone tell me the width of bbi WWII aircraft boxes (Zero, Mustang, Hellcat); and 'standard' 21st/Motorworks boxes. Thanks

OK, my mistake. I just didn't feel nice to read about other people's family misfortune been revealed & publicly discussed. I do not understand, why embarrassing info such as " his wife left him " and " his daughter got preggers " should be public and how this intel could promote the quality of our ...

Look at the bidding history - it's virtually all the same bidder. Looks suspicious.

Re: new Merit UH-1 Sharkmouth gunship
If like so much other 21st tooling, pilot molds are probably gone. Years ago 21st reported Spitfire molds were cracked; then stolen; then got burnt in a fire and finally, I think, were hit by a meteor.

Prepping for paint question
For those of you who have completely re-painted 21st XD aircraft, what have you done to breakdown the model and prep the surfaces? On similar projects I would usually sand to remove existing paint, but I don't want to damage any of the molded detailing. Is there a de-glosser you've used? Just a good...

Looking for a few bbi figure accessories
Looking for a few pieces: bbi USN pilot parachute seat pack (Hellcat, Corsair); flying cap with goggles for same bbi USN pilot; Ranger backpack for bbi Normandy assault vest ranger; 21st .30 machine gun for gunner with 'sitting' legs. Thanks

What a great find. Think of the many different situations when that door was opened and closed - normal service, training, emergencies, good times and bad. Really a piece of history to be honored.

Re: Who has the molds?
It's anyone's guess what happens to any molds (RE: 21st Spitfire), but some companies just destroy them when they decide they're no longer needed. Seems like a lot of money to pay for something just to abandon it in couple of years, but there's probably some write-off or other process where the comp...

Didn't know bbi was out of the 1:18 business also. And maybe out of business. Strange that there is so little being produced in 1:18.

bbi F6F - 19 or 35?
What fuselage number is on the non-sharkmouth version? I've seen photos with 19, and other photos with 35, including the listing at SSHQ Database. Were both versions produced?

What happened to BBI?
Years ago, about the same time I left the 1:18 hobby due to other responsibilities, 21st was starting to implode; Admiral had produced the F86 and ME262; Unimax had a few figures; and BBI was manufacturing high-quality figures and aircraft. I know 21st self-destructed; Admiral seems not to have been...

Re: roll call any groundpounders?
I'm back after a long absence. Can't believe how much the hobby has changed...BadCat gone, prices high on EVERYTHING 1:18, so many things I sold now described as 'rare'....but good to see some familiar names as I start (re)building up a small collection.

Very nice items! And you're smart by including a variety of prices (something for every budget!) and 'completeness', not all add-ons but including items that could be used immediately.

Re: Yet another 'what's the value of this' question
"It's also been a while since we saw a release of prototypes and really rare stuff - mostly from that one ebay lady from California." I've often thought about what happened to these 21st one-offs, and of course I missed these auctions. Does anyone have photos or links of what these items were? I'd r...
