Looks like it is one of the Shuttles from the Classic Battle Star Galactica. Similar shape and they had the 4 "tanks" on top like the piece on the left and two long engines. Thats my guess but I would say im 98% sure that's what it is. Loved that show and all the ships from it.

tow cables do sound like a great idea. Lots of different guys make stowage of different kinds for the tanks but none make tow cables.
