The new box photos of the Tiger are a lot different than the Tiger photos on my Abrams box.
The Tiger photos on the Abrams box are a lot better.

TMANTHEGREAT:

Thanks for more great photos.
Two questions:

1. Are you going to do anything about the crooked pitot tubes? I noticed Badcat's F-4J photo had crooked pitots, too.

2. Do you own BBI's 1/18 F-16 Wolfpack? If so, how does the F-4J compare to the F-16?

I'm here in Texas and I'll be at Target Saturday morning. If I find an FOV 1/18 Tiger or Sherman, I'll post it here.

SHIN DENSETSU:

I agree. I was hoping for an F-4J with some combat history---specifically Cunningham's (although his prison sentence may have been a stigma). From what I gather, VF-84 flew F-4Bs in Vietnam and transitioned to F-4Js after they became part of the 6th Fleet.

PANZER_M: It's been mentioned on the FOV 1/18 posts---I bought a FOV 1/18 Abrams and on the back of the box are shown the prototypes (i.e. non-production versions) of WW II tanks such as the Sherman and Tiger I, both in 2 paint schemes. Someone mentioned his friend has already seen a Tiger I in a Ta...

I contacted BBI to see if the F-4J would be sold by ToysRUs and Target. The reply was probably not, maybe next year. I for got to ask if the F-4J would be sold online-only by Target.com---like BBI's 1/18 F-16. It appears etailers will be the only source for the F-4J---which is a problem if you like ...

Concerning Target's price for the FOV 1:18 Abrams, I just called Target and gave them the UPC code for my Abrams and asked for the price. The toy dept. clerk said it's still $29.99---the same price I paid for it the day after Thanksgiving.

The FOV Abrams is actually just under $30, not $25.
You're right about the storage rack, I went to three Targets looking for an FOV Abrams with an unbent rack and found none. I bought one with the lesser degree of being bent. The same is true for the 50 cal. machine gun, too.

At Target, the BBI Abrams ($20)and the FOV Abrams ($30) are next to each other. The FOV Abrams is still the better choice---proof positive you get what you pay for.

I bought four defect-riddled BBDs in the old box and would have preferred that 21st Century spend its time and resources on quality control instead of new boxes...a triumph of style over substance.

CGI dogfight: P-51 vs. BF-109

Here are P-51D scenes from HART'S WAR (Bruce Willis, Colin Farrell). The first link is a scene of a CGI dogfight between a Tuskegee P-51D and a BF-109. Note the B-17 trailing smoke in the background. The second link is of real P-51Ds strafing a German train carrying American POWs. http://www.youtube...

SABREFAN: I want an F-4E in Vietnam camouflage with the Tigershark nose paint and Steve Ritchie's F-4D (21st Century's 1/18 version is too big). I'd be interested in Duke Cunningham's F-4J, too, but the USAF F-4s are my #1 wants. It's been asked before: Will the new F-4J be sold by ToysRUs and Target?

TMANTHEGREAT:

BBI's up-or-down option, to me, is better than 21st Century's P-51 Mustang retractable landing gear which has large finger tabs on the gear doors to open them with. This ruins the P-51's authenticity and makes it look toyish.
