Re: First pic of AF-1 Hawkeye

HM Hawkeye does look a very good model, and glad numerous small corrections were done, to get it right.

However, the first scheme is certainly not for me.

Hopefully the second release will be more to my taste, knowing the basic model itself is good :D

Snake Man: I also have that Corsair that Patrick made. I have it on display. I also have the HMS Collasus "99 Corsair. As far as HellCats, Patrick was using one I supplied for him to use as samples. I eventually received it back in the colors off the USS Franklin. He did great work, sorry he had to...

Re: Any Scoop on the new 1/18th Scale Harrier...?

Regardless of the price and the delays, got to give it up to Merit for taking on a plane with complex shape and details that could be so much more challenging than say an F-117 Stealth with all the simple flat panels. Taking the time to get it right is worth a wait and a few more $$ too. Still look...

Re: Airstrike Toys?

I "think" that they are decals, but done very well, so it is hard to tell. No silvering, borders, sheen, or anything that would make it obvious it was a decal. Looking at it, it certainly appears to be painted on, they are done that well. Chunks certainly appears to have the inside scoop, on what wa...

Re: Airstrike Toys?

I currently have Series 1 number 5 of his FAA Corsair repaint. Based on the work he did I introduced Patrick to this forum. Almost immediately both 21c toys and Admiral served him with a cease and desist, however since he only used BBI's models to base his repaints on 21c and Admiral was unable to ...

Nice snag, Aviatornut. Assume this was from the big one lot sale a few months ago?

Lots of good stuff, and your prices do seem quite reasonable.

Good luck :D

Re: Airstrike Toys?

I happened to run across a F4U Corsair done in FAA colors done by Airstrike Toys. I found some more, while researching on the database. Anyone know about these, quality wise, paint, decals or painted on markings? I picked up one of his FAA Corsairs a number of years ago. Very well done, and he did ...

Re: Any Scoop on the new 1/18th Scale Harrier...?

$240 isn't too bad, and about what I thought it would be. Considering the model looks good, from what we have seen of it, think it is a fair price. Was disappointed to see that no pilot will be included, but not a deal breaker. Like everyone, looking forward to pics of the actual production model. :D

Holy Crap  Pretty amazing 1/72 collection, and they look like they have been done quite well. Lots of different aircraft as well, and probably the biggest WWI theme I have seen. One of the nice things about 1/18 is their presence. You certainly wouldn't get the same type of display showing 1/48 models.

Any of the online retailers should offer good shipping services.

It is usually more about the price, than the actual shipping, but does pay to shop around a bit.

And being in the US, you have the added advantage of free, or very cheap shipping from US based retailers.

Re: Dog Fights on the Military History Channel

Fantastic series, but as CplSlade pointed out, far from new. CGI will be looking somewhat dated by now, but other than that, it really is great. Covers all sorts of engagements from WWi to the Gulf War, and everything in between. Have the series downloaded, and was hoping they might do another seaso...

Nice, but not perfect. As has been pointed out, has some flaws and oversights.

Certainly not worth $38,000, in my opinion.

Pretty tempted myself, especially for the price.

F-4 Phantom again, but the Bronco would be cool.Don't have that yet in 1/72. Think the Mig 21 would be a great choice too. 8) Iconic Soviet Cold War jet, saw combat in Vietnam, amongst other places, and used by many nations. Not that complicated to do either, unlike some of the other choices. http:/...

Went for the He 162.

Small, relatively easy, and a proper Luftwaffe jet fighter. 8)

Do 335 would be great as well, but it would be big, and more complex than He 162.

All good choices Matthew, and can see the votes reflect this so far.

F-4 Phantom, easily.

The A-10, while a great CAS aircraft, certainly won't win any beauty contests, and is a very basic aircraft.

Phantom,on the other hand, has everything going for it, countries that operated it, and schemes.

Much harder to do though, as am sure Matthew will confirm.

Re: Finally got an Arrow!

As a "true commission", I think the Arrow was it. Aferg. Know they { Hobby Master} did some Canadian Harvards, that have a definite link as well, but for what we are talking about, think this is a one off, as far as HM is concerned. Back in their earlier days, and not sure if they would be open to d...

Re: Finally got an Arrow!

It was a commission Tman. Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum approached HM to do this iconic Canadian aircraft, and it is marketed as a CWHM model, and says so on the packaging. Don't think HM is even mentioned on the box in the fine print, but the stand gives it away, as does the packaging style. Th...
