Re: new planes i could see BBI making

As for me, I would like to see the FW190A, a Hurricane, a Japanese Tony, or one of the Jap floatplane fighters, and a Sturmovik !

[/quote] The bottom lettering is may be the planes initial markings after the factory, once a pilot and number and group is established, they painted over it, the white squiggle means 4th group. My problem with it is the white 2 and the squiggle are to high, they should be more centered on the cross...

Looks pretty nice, but as far as weathering goes, the dirt stains belong BEHIND the oil cooler and radiators, rather than in front of them. The intake areas remain relatively clean.

Not bad, but I don't care at all for the oversized screw eyes, or whatever they are that they used to hold the control wires. I think they detract from the looks.

It seems so strange to me that some people have so many hidden away that they don't remember what they have !! I really don't see the point of having them if you cannot display them and enjoy them. .......I dunno, just my way of looking at things. I guess I will never understand the thinking behind ...

Now that I have seen this, I think the cowl flaps on all the radial engined aircraft should get this treatment !!! Corsair, P-47, Zero all would look great with the cowl flaps opened up.

I display all mine. I don't have a huge amount because I am not a "hoarder". I have only one of each significant aircraft, which is all I collect. However, my entire house is my man cave, so I decorate how I want to. My "significant other" has no say in the matter !! :D :D

A question for the military vehicle guys......

Why is it that U.S. military vehicles have canvas roofs over the cab, rather than steel roofs like the identical civilian version ? I have always wondered about that !!!

As for me, I'm an airplane guy. My votes are for the BF109G-6, and the Mig 15 for all around best items. I don't own any armor, and figures are not my thing, so I can't comment on them.

2. BBI Hellcat. Want to love this one so badly but it is just so poorly engineered! HATE HATE HATE the flappy control surfaces, the goofy wing folds, the fact they sag when extended, the oversized canopy, the really crappy landing gear! Horrible! Horrible sagging wings on the BBI Hellcat? What abou...

Re: What was the worst item ever made?

I completely agree with T-man. The P-40 was a real dog. All the problems mentioned above, plus an absolutely flat wing, zero dihedral, as if they used a level. I always dreamed that BBI would make a later model p-40 with their standard of detail. Could you imagine? ( or a later mark Spitfire). Hmmmm...

Re: VF-201 Repaint

Great job !! You are correct in the weathering. Weathering needs to be EXTREMELY subtle or it looks like crap. Most overdo it.

WWII stuff serving in war zones take more of a beating, and exposure to harsh conditions, so SOMETIMES they can get away with heavy weathering.

I couldn't tell from the pic which one it is because of the reflection from the plastic window in the box. It really doesn't matter, the price is right, and the shipping is only $12.00.

Go get a toothbrush with a handle of the proper color, and make a new lens. Drill part way into it from the back side to simulate the light bulb inside of it. That is the way we made realistic looking nav lights back in my model building days. Toothbrush handles come in quite a variety of colors, su...
