Re: 1/18 scale B-26 Marauder for sale $38K

As Pickelhaube said, for that price it should be perfect. I noticed a LOT of out of scale details in the interior shots, in addition to the nacelles being way off, plus the oversize rivets in the nose section. Nice, but not worth 38 K......

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION

I just got the Midway version of the Dauntless, and I must say I'm VERY impressed !!! The thing that pleases me the most is that the weathering is very subtle. Many 1/18 planes have extremely over done attempts at weathering. I would rather have none at all, rather than having it poorly done. Many o...

It really looked to me like he was on somebody's payroll to attempt to shoot down the A-10 in order to release funding for someone else's pet project. He was trying way too hard !!

Re: Why is the JSI Adolf Gallan BF-109 a poor selling item?

The "weathering" is very overdone, and I think that is what hurt it. I would much prefer no weathering at all to a heavy handed attempt that is hard to un-do.

Re: Critiques of 21st offerings

Its always fun to discuss these things  Since we haven't gotten any new 1:18 aircraft in a couple years, why not discuss all the old classics? Snake Man, I have 3 P-40s (AVG, RAP, Pearl Harbor). The RAF one is the earliest (bought early 2004) and has flat wings; my AVG and Pearl Harbor ones a...

Re: Critiques of 21st offerings

Axis Nightmare.... Strange that you cite lack of dihedral in those examples. ALL of mine have a normal amount of dihedral. I would agree with the droopy wings on the Avenger, which I never bought, but all the others I have are fine. I wonder if there was more than one release of these ? I know there...

Excellent and informative post, tmanthegreat !! Its not about complaining, or nitpicking, but rather informing folks about issues in these offerings. Not at all intended to discourage people from enjoying these planes. I like 'em all !!

Critiques of 21st offerings

Now that 21st is long dead, I would like to open a discussion on scale issues with their items. There have been postings before regarding individual aircraft, but not all in one place. I would like to open the discussion with issues that I personally noticed. For one, I find the rudder outline on th...

Looking great now. You might consider simply painting on the frame so as not to have it look thick and "clunky". Perhaps try it both ways to see how it looks....

It is not 1/18. He states "probably painted on a small model" He has several that he calls "Paint Masters". I'm not real sure why 21st would make paint masters for 1/18 on smaller models. Perhaps for the 1/32 line ?

I thought the exhaust staining was quite heavy-handed. I never saw that much blackening around P-51 exhausts. Take a look at the actual aircraft picture included in the photo set. I would rather not have any attempt at weathering at all than to have it poorly done. I would rather do my own weatherin...

What is the purpose of the bubble canopy aft of the wing ? I don't see any guns involved with it.
