Re: Tamiya paints hard to find?

I've been moaning and groaning about this for months -- I started another thread about it somewhere here. Tower has started listing SOME but not all the spray lacquer rattle cans as "available in December" or something like that. The color I REALLY need is TS-3 Flat Dark Yellow -- One of the two col...

Re: 1/18 V2

Really like the enhancements you're making, gburch, and the in-progress pics! The shot up the length of the tube is especially striking, looking much like internal views of real rockets. If anyone is actually following this thread who might end up building a kit, I'd appreciate hearing opinions on ...

"How do you like that Mr. Hitler?", indeed -- must have been a shock when the good Nazis discovered that untermenschen were shooting down their planes . . . A nice revenge for Jessie Owens. I watched the "featurette" on the making of the movie on the same Youtube channel -- well worth the time. Seem...

As someone who spent some time working on 1/18 buildings a couple of years ago, I can say that's one of the finest I've ever seen. Truly amazing work.

More pics and notes from "finishing school:" The control section framework ready for a second coating of filler. Re: 1/18 V2

Very interesting application of the green stuff. Not my idea. I took the time to read Nick Karatzides' detailed build thread on his unusual helicopter trainer model: http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25656 Way down in there, he mentions that he uses the technique of diluting pu...

Re: Is 21st Cobra still popular item?

Definitely. I got into 1/18 after the Golden Age but, despite that, I now have at least one of every aircraft and vehicle that was made back then and, for things that are favorites of mine (e.g. P-47, Corsair) quite a few examples . . . all except the Cobra. I've never been able to find one at a pri...

I discovered these right at the end of the period when I was building structures for my GWOT dio. They're really quite neat, especially when combined with other building materials like foam core board (to make floors and roofs) and balsa stick and sheet (to make window and door frames and doors and ...

An amazing piece of film and really an incredible job of piecing together the action on a second-by-second basis. It's rare to see this level of detail. And yes . . . really heart-rending to see especially the Sherman commander and know you're watching some of the last minutes of his life. It really...

I went and got all of the material to make my " rotisserie " mould machine. I hope to make it and try to pour some wings on Sunday. This is part of the project that was very questionable and I hope it will work . Otherwise I will have to split the wings and make moulds for the out side skin and ins...

Six Million Dollar Man. :D I would be up for some X planes in 1/18, particularly the X-15. 8) Ha! Good find! There is a market for nostagic models from retro tv shows + movies. Some cute little spacecraft kids can enjoy, yet with a realistic Space / Military vibe, mature adult collectors can really appreciate, too. First pic is the X-24A NASA / Air Force. Second pic is the lifting-body sisters X-24A, M2-F3 & HL-10. ALL amazingly measure LESS in length + wingspan than one ...

There is an online hobby store in Missouri that has a pretty good selection of Tamiya rattle cans in stock. Try http://www.hobby1.com. Have you thought of making a sleeve to join the parts ? That way you can make all the parts the same thickness . You should be able to make the sleeve to slide inside of the parts to hold and align them together. Also it should cut down on the time for the big parts and you should have shorter run ...
