Re: JSI Tomcat - Super Detailing???
For those of you who have repainted your Big Cat, a few questions:
Should I attach the forward section to the main body before painting or do it after ? How do these two line up once they are put together ? Are there any seams that will need to be filled and sanded before priming ?

Re: JSI Tomcat - Super Detailing???
These tail stiffners aren't working out like I thought they would. I made one set (3 pcs. glued together) using .010" sheet plastic. They look great "laminated" together but, the finished product is too thick for the scale. I tried another one using just one piece of sheet plastic. I scribed the pie...

Re: F-14?
IF the next Cat is a VF-111 Sundowners you WILL NOT see seperate weapons, IMO. They flew A models which were all air to air and, that's what the S1 VF-84 came with. I know a D model would mean doing some retooling but, I think people are looking for something different. How many repaints of the S1 d...

Re: F-14?
Instead of doing another A model version, they should release a proper D model with JDAMS IMO.

This is my VF-154 F-14A version. This is all factory paint. I have done nothing to this one except add the pilot and RIO.

Re: F-14?
Not sure how he did it but, what I do for all my 1/48th weapons is to drill tiny holes into the bomb where the bombs lugs would be. Then I super glue in small pieces of wire and drill matching holes into the MAU rack or TER, which ever the bomb will be hanging from. Carefully line up the wire, on th...

Looks great, awesome work. I wonder why he went thru ALL that work and never bothered to fill any seams ?? Just my 2 cents.

Here is the finished result after wet sanding the area and gluing the steps in the closed position. Now to tackle the tail stiffners.

Re: JSI Tomcat - Super Detailing???
Rudedog, I have a jewelers saw and I used that to remove the TCS pod. I removed it for 3 reasons. First, because I wanted to sand all the seams gone. Second, I removed the painted navigation light. I am going to replace this with a clear plastic piece that I shaped and sanded and third, I removed th...

Here ya go, refer to the photos; Wooden base 12 1/4'' wide X 9 1/2'' tall Wooden dowel rods 5/16'' pvc halves cut from 1 1/4'' I.D. pvc pipe This was made all from stuff I had lying around the garage. The wood base fits "the footprint" of the fuel tanks once installed on the jet. I determined that f...
