Re: SBD on the Bench
This is just one of 4 on the main dash. There are several different ones located on the side panels and around the rear gunners position as well.

Re: 1/18 BBI F-18 Hornet that had the extendable Fuel probe,Airbrake and boarding ladder
There was a guy...some 10 years ago..
named MIG29K who was on the mods forum alot who did most of that. I have not heard from him in years though. You might search the archives for his posts. I have done the speed brake and other mods if I can help.

Working in the cockpit mainly on the switches. Only the side panel is done right now, but the larger lower panel is next.

More dry fitting. Trying to get a better idea of what will be visible...and what will not. Seems there is more not than is.

Re: SBD on the Bench
https://i.ibb.co/Rb5TDKP/20200603-104319.jpg So some bad news....I have thought it out and come to the conclusion that the only way to show the detail behind the firewall is to degrade the integrity of the entire nose. This would make the fuselage halves susceptible to misalignment or snapping apar...

Re: SBD on the Bench
https://i.ibb.co/42QPNxv/20200530-145658.jpg So here's what I think is going on with this kit. The upper cowl covering the .50 cals appears to not fit. There is a tab for alignment on the forward end that does not fit around the intake you see above. This means the intake is NOT in the prebuilt ver...

Re: SBD on the Bench
I hate to disagree with you CplSlade, but this is a totally different kit. While the Hobby Boss kit might be an upscale of the Trumpeter kit, the Merit kit is not. Again, all the functionality of the prebuilt is here including retractable main gear, rubber main tires, opening dive brakes, opening. 3...

Re: SBD on the Bench
https://i.ibb.co/9cCtJj4/20200530-104152.jpg Oh boy....what have I started? This is the Merit model and has all the functionality of the prebuilt version. The gear does retract, but what surprised me was the amount of detail hidden that you won't see. I have not personally seen the prebuilt version...

Re: SBD on the Bench
So here's the plan. For the most part, this will be an OOB with only a few small alterations to the exterior. The major change will be paint and markings. I want to do her as "2106". If you are unfamiliar with 2106, here's the short version of her history. 2106 survived Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea campa...

Re: Old Hornet Project Revisited
Finally got happy with the canopy actuator and its operation. Had to remove and redo both hinges to make it work properly.
Looks good...works good.
