1/18th Scale Anonymous

It has come to pass that each day I have my routines. As I power up my laptop and another technical workstation in this glass ediface which is my home from the 9 to 5. I always find myself swigging a cup of tea (British after all) and then checking the Small Scale Index to determine the latest gossi...

I'd certainly purchase an A-4 Skyhawk in 1/18th scale. It has many repaint possibilities and is still I believe in use by a number of foreign air forces. Would very much like to see this plane made.

My F-104 Took a near fatal tumble the other day......

Just wanted to share my pain of my USAF F-104 diving off the ironing table and landing on its gear to shatter in several pieces. My fault as I was clearing my place and balanced the bird precariously, anyway my butt nudged the table and the F-104 ...sniff...sob.....had a flame out and fell. Well aft...

Gentleman, I don't mean to ruffle feathers on the subject of the A-10, I'd love to see one made, it'd be great. The online retailer in question I think is only given what the manufacturer decides to tell him, I totally forgot about the mockup on show, that lends me to think that it isn't trashed. So...

Oh forgot to add, BBi may also be considering a Russian Jet release. But no info on what again Wait And See....

Hi From an online and retail shop 1/18 dealer here in the UK I'm informed that BBi are considering a few modern and US jets for release. He told me that he had visited the production facility in China but didn't say what was being scheduled for production despite me pressing him/threatening him :win...

California Cutie

Hey wondered if 21st would ever make the P-38 in the olive drab California Cutie paint scheme. I missed out on the Halealka 2 and really like the model in an camo scheme. I've always loved the Cutie noseart with the invasion stripes. With the Pudgy version coming out I think the Cutie would be a nic...

Hi Ski Yes I'm getting quite a warm feeling too that Corgi hasn't abandoned the 1/18th line. The dealer had the F-16 from BBi and also a few XD P-38 D-Day, Corgi Stuka, P-40 (RAF) and the F-4U Corsair. Other stuff consisted of Sky Guardians/Witty Wings, the small ready assembled Easy Models in plast...

Hi I was at the Biggin Hill show yesterday, very enjoyable made more so that the weather was great and all the birds were flying. We had B-17 formation flying with a BBD P-51, another P-51 and a P-47. There was an F-86 too which made me hunger for the 21st release when it comes. But I struck gold as...

Aferg thanks for posting Mike's unexpected response to my question! Message for Mike- thank you for taking the time to enlighten me on the subject. I'm certainly getting the impression that each plane goes through alot of processing prior to packaging. I'm an injection model making convert to 1/18 s...

Thanks guys, had no idea but impressive nonethless. Just looking at some of the large national insignias painted on the bubble top P-47's particularly Eileen there's a feathered effect which to me looked as if it was airbrushed on. But hey I'm probably wrong, thanks for the input.

Markings, insignia- How do theydo it?

Hi all, Just wondered how 21st and BBi apply the markings to their planes and vehicles. I'm a model maker and do use the airbrush quite a bit, but for the life of me I could not replicate the markings that they manage to apply. They all seem to be painted on? How is this achieved? I am amazed, just ...

Mike- Many thanks for your prompt response with regards to distribution to the UK. I'll take your advice and will hang in there, but it looks like Corgi are dragging their heels, so fingers crossed they'll relent and start to stock non British liveried planes. For now I suppose I will just rely on B...

Hello Mike, I'm sorry to bother you with another question. I'm based here in the UK and BBi products are few and far between. I'd love to get a P-51 Killer or a Kiowa, any ideas of whether distribution here in the Uk will improve? I do have the F-18 and F-16, the Apache, Blackhawk and Littlebird all...

Teamski, you're probably right about me being the first 'average' Joe getting the F-104 in the UK. I have a feeling we won't be seeing this plane here anytime soon. Anyway it sure didn't take too long to get to me- 4 days at a an extra cost of $45 in postage. Ouch! But still it really is a fine plan...

F-104

Just wanted to say that I recieved my F-104 from Bad Cat this morning. As I'm in the UK I feel a bit of trepidation each time I order from overseas, however Bad Cat always takes the time to send me the best example possible. Just to say that I am very delighted with the F-104, the QC and paint issue...

Teamski, Thank you for the warm welcome mate. Yes can confirm the Classic Warbird Corgi box for the checkerboard Corsair. This was a surprise for me too as I thought this line was exclusively for British/Allied and Axis aircraft. Not sure if this is a revival by Corgi, suspect it might be the last r...

Hi I'm a new member but have been following the forum for a few years. I'm based here in the UK and have been a XD Junkie ever since I ran into the SP P-38 at TRU in Atlanta in 2003. I was on a business trip and saw this incredibly detailed P-38 and wondered if it was just a display piece. Asking an...
