Back in 1976, when my family moved from St. Louis to NW Arkansas, I gave away my entire GI Joe collection to a kid down the street. His parents were divorced and he didn't have ANYTHING in the way of toys. I was 12 and had decided that I was too old to play with toys anymore. Never regretted it. In ...

One other note about ship's guns.

It's often said that the full broadside of an IOWA-class battleship's guns (nine 16" guns) moves the vessel sideways.

This is not true.

The illusion is created in some photographs by vibration effects of the aforementioned muzzle blast...

Easy Model Review - June Releases

I got some of the new releases from Easy Model: 1/700 USS Los Angeles 1/700 USS Greeneville w/ASDS 1/72 T-34/85 - North Vietnamese Army 1/72 UH-60 Blackhawk - 101st 1/72 CH-46 Seaknight - USN HC-3 1/72 UH-34 Choctaw - VNAF I must admit to being disappointed in the fit and finish of several of these....

Hey, look at it this way. By not spending big $$$ on expensive translation services, they're able to keep the price down. I'm just happy they didn't try to write a description of any of the submarines. Can you imagine the description for USS Jimmy Carter... "The President 39th of the American States...

Don't feel alone. I live in Arkansas - HOME of Wal-Mart, and the distribution of XD stinks. I think I've mentioned before that the WM outside the MAIN GATE of the Air Force Base here (LRAFB) gets almost no XD of any kind. VERY frustrating. I don't have the free time to run around town to visit the s...

Truthfully, I kind of split my purchases between local stores and on-line, but I also collect a wider variety than just 1/18. For 1/6, I pretty much have no choice but online. For 1/18, I generally buy from a local store, but sometimes add a piece or two if I'm already ordering something else. For 1...

I had a box of stuff delivered to work. My wife brought the flu home and gave it to me. For a couple of days we were home, sick, together. The box was delivered. My wife got well first and since she works just down the street from my job, my job called her to let her know there was a box for me... F...

I think I mentioned in one of my custom posts that when working with a 120mm resin set (which is nominally 1/16th scale), I discovered that the 120mm M-16s and M-60s were the same size as ones I had in my spares box that came out of 1/18 sets and that weapons size varies not just between manufacture...

But, I'm not optimistic.

I've got to admit that I'm just not into the WWII era at all. I built a bunch of WWII models as a kid, but I just am not interested in them anymore. I understand why people are, but it's just not my thing.

In the late 1980's (under the Regan administration), the US provided Humvees and UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters to China to combat drug production. AM General also provides parts to both the DongFeng Motors and the Shenyang Aircraft Co., the two companies to show pictures of Chinese Humvees coming off ...

FS - NKK Spitfire $50 shipped

Message pretty much says it all.

It's NRFB. Box has some minor wear.

I will ship it anywhere US.

Overseas shipping AT COST (which can still be alot.

I'm trying to re-focus my collection on more modern stuff.

Also, some of the Verlinden printed products like the MREs and C-Rations (that are 120mm or 1/16 scale) don't look too bad out of scale, IMHO.

As usual with my luck, I had seen one a couple of months ago. Then I received a 20% off coupon form TRU's and went to buy one but couldn't find one. I saw a couple more a few weeks later afte the coupn expired. Of course. As soon as TRU puts out a coupon, they put all the good stuff back in the sto...

IIRC, the armor came out just before Christmas (in my area at least).

Unfortunately, I had made the decision to go with 1/72 about six months ago, and I'm NOT going to pick up another scale...

I'm NOT...

I'm NOT...

(Of course, that's what I said when I was collecting 1/18, too)

I'd love to see a USCG helo, but I agree, it's unlikely.

I'm wonder how well Dragon's 1/72 USCG offering is selling?

I've got the decals to do one of the old 21C 1/6 Little Birds as a USCG chopper, but it's still in the "someday" stage.

FS - Built 1/18 Glencoe M274 Mule

I built a Glencoe M274 Mule kit. http://www.aimm.museum/Mule-s.jpg The recoilless rifle is from the BBI Super Humvee (I didn't want to mess with building the one out of the kit). The kit isn't impossible to find, but it is hard to build, and I've done a fair amount of detail work to it. The wheels s...
