Re: Is anyone else "addicted" to collecting?

Ha ha! I'll keep hold of them for now...I don't intend getting rid of any if I can help it, although dark forces are always plotting against me.... As to the Dragon armour, I got all the first ones when they were released including the Cyber and Dragon Expo releases at reasonable rates, and then cou...

Re: Is anyone else "addicted" to collecting?

Definite addict here. Got a couple of hundred Dragon armour until the prices started getting silly, and by then I'd found 1/18 aircraft...all this to add to 1/35 tanks, 1/32, 1/48 and 1/48 aircraft...kits and die-cast. There's just too many models and not enough space.... Addicted to the point of ha...

Re: Spitfire Nose art

For those into repaints, that nose art is available as a decal set from Kits-world in 1/32.

set number KW132032

The same sheet also has another Spitfire Mk VIII with nose art.

P.S.
The British aren't prudish, we usually paint our nose art on the inside so the pilot had something to look at...

Re: Wittman Tiger #007?

Tiger 205 was pictured on the sequence of pictures showing 2/101 on the march to the front, but as I understand, by the Morning of June 13th when 2 company was located in the Ancienne Route de Caen to the North East of Villiers Bocage, there were only six Tigers present, being 212 213 214 224 231 an...

Re: Bovington Tank Museum

Welcome to my second home... As you can see from the photos, if you're interested in tanks and are in the UK then this is the place to go. (try and avoid school holidays though) Ideal for me as it's just down the road, and I have a twelve month return free pass. I haven't been to the IWM for years, ...

Looks excellent, and that's always a big plus when the model's been playing hard to get.

Nothing worse than tracking a rarity down only to end up with a dog!

All the best

Re: do you ever worry about your hobby?

When I started collecting 1/18, I identified about 110 different model aircraft releases which I could reasonably expect to find, and I'm just over half way through the list. Reckon I can get to about 75 on what I know is available over here at the moment. After that, it will be time to pay more in ...

Re: King Tiger on EBAY??

The third photo certainly seems to be a 1/32. The '1/18' on E-bay has all the same detail features as the first two shots, but the painted version in the third picture matches the other 1/32 releases for detail not the E-bay item. Differences include: Size of muzzle brakes. Early grooved v late smoo...

Re: weathering armour

For items such as grab handles or areas such as crew access points where paint has been worn away by constant use; Get an HB pencil and shave out the graphite, then crush it into a powder. This can be rubbed onto the area of the model you want to weather, either using your finger, or a Q-tip, then g...

There was also the original Dragon release 60043 - Panther F followed by the Cyber Hobby release 60322 - Panther G with steel road wheels. Both in ambush camouflage scheme as they used exactly the same hulls but at least this pair had different turrets although still the same increase in price for t...

Re: [+] New DML 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II B / Out of Box pics

It's a trough for the ariel to fold down into to protect it when out of use, presumably it was sloped forward at an angle to avoid the side vision port.
The ariel mount is level with the top of the trough on the left side of the fighting compartment

Hope this helps.

Re: Mysterious Dragon armor Panther???

Look at Dragon model 60125, which is a Panther G turret number 135 Normandy 44,
then compare it to 60268 - the captured vehicle in Hungary 1945.
Dragon simply covered the original turret numbers with the Green patches/stars to come up with the new scheme.

Hope this helps.

Re: All-go King Tiger?

dragon 53 ; The Normandy '104' has a production turret and does have zimmerit. There is also a pre-production example in the same museum with the 'Porsche' turret which has no zimmerit. I assumed ALL-GO were doing the Normandy ss101 104 and not the ss501 Bulge 104, as the Normandy tank had a turret ...

Re the real 104

It still exists.

Look at the Wikipedia page on the King Tiger and it's the one in the first photo which comes up.
Follow the external link 'Tiger survivors' and below the picture of 104 there is another link to the story of its capture.

Hope this helps.

I believe you are correct and that the B17 was phased out of normal squadron/group service in the PTO in favour of the B24 and B29 prior to introduction of the G. Here's where my 'which aircraft to choose' dilemma kicks in; For a Fort with staggered guns and Cheyenne tail, I think that NMF is the co...

tmanthegreat Thanks for the info. There are Walmarts here, but just standard sized UK supermarkets. pcoughran - thanks for that.
