Re: 1/6 ITEMS

Thanks Tman! It's been my deep dive distraction from the Museum being shut down and all the virus drama. I've been wanting to do something like this after seeing the talent at the annual 1/6 shows. That amazing 1/16/1/18 diorama post pushed me over the top. I work on it mostly in the evenings while ...

Continuing the process.... Finished the metal door to the structure complete with working hinges and latch which came from an old wooden birdcage door. https://i.imgur.com/Uq0mMIy.jpg The mud and junk filled shell crater from the blast that took out the rear of the structure. https://i.imgur.com/3xl...

Two of my favorite German figures will be in the scene....along with quite a few more, most in appropriate garb for the winter. https://i.imgur.com/yfF63ED.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dumVI8H.jpg Just finished ruining the factory fresh finish on my Dragon Kubelwagen which will be traveling with the half...

Re: 1/16 tanks

Got some progress pics in the 1/6 items thread. I'm wondering if the guy who did the massive 1/16/1/18 scene had a master plan or just added what came to mind. I started with a plan but changed it many times and added things I had no idea I would do when I started. Fun that way for sure! You can be ...

Re: 1/72 Hellcat Drones

Well done sir!

Neat story to go with it. I do cringe whenever I see proud warbirds that come to such an end as a throw away target drone. At least they weren't just scrapped and went out with purpose! :salute:

Just received two sets of 1/18 tow chain shackles from Battlegroud Models. Was pleasantly surprised they arrived already in O.D. Color! I was very impressed with the website and the ease of ordering. Pat has a first rate and very professional operation complete with e-mail confirmations, notificatio...

Re: 1/6 ITEMS

Here's some progress pictures on the landscape and scenery. I wanted to show a March, 1945 late winter scene where there's still some unmelted snow but mostly mud and lifeless foliage. The structure where the G.I.s are taking cover will be separated from the German Halftrack by a small courtyard, th...

Re: 1/6 ITEMS

Progress continues but I'm running into project fatigue. I should be familiar with how things slow to a glacier movement when it comes down to tiny details. I see it all the time at the Museum in the restorations. Been working on landscape mostly. Very tedious and tough to get the effect I'm after. ...

Re: 1/18 Sherman Question

Seemed German vehicles got the most detail attention for some reason. The Shermans didn't have shackles either. Just a kinda stub where those would have been attached. Those would help too.

1/18 Sherman Question

I have several 1/18 Shermans including a BBi. I acquired all of them loose. None have tow cables. They have channels for them to snap into but no cables. German tanks in 1/18 have tow cables included. Are they missing off my Shermans or did none of them come with them?

A Longshot

I'm looking for several 1/6 dragon or better U.S. GI Europe figures, regular Army, not Airborne, to flesh out a display. Some of you dabbled in these at one time. If you have any lying around you'd part with at cheaper than stupid high eBay prices I might be interested in taking them off your hands....

Re: Normandy Customs

The razor saw like that is a critical and versatile tool for any cutting of soft or small plastic or tiny wood pieces for a clean cut. It can get in places where a hacksaw can't and a knife is not practical. It's really good on styrofoam finishing work to clean up less precise hacksawing. I used it ...

Re: 1/6 ITEMS

No, It's a winter Europe scheme. Took some shots that had odd stuff in the background that I deleted. One had my Japanese mannequin looming over the scene like a giant. One had my German mannequin shown in the background through the window like he was standing right outside the building. When I saw ...

Re: 1/6 ITEMS

Rebar was widely used in Europe and America since the 1850's. I didn't know that until I just looked it up. I was sweating that one for a minute!

I seem to recall seeing it in bomb damage photos in European cities but for the life of me can't find any photos now.

Re: 1/6 ITEMS

Still a major WIP, I'm tinkering around with the concept of a US patrol taking cover in the wrecked building while the German halftrack and accompanying infantry pass by. They don't have the firepower to engage so they must just wait it out. The roles could easily be reversed with say, Germans occup...

Re: 1/16 tanks

Well I'm back to considering a 1/18 scene too. I may be able to do both but the 1/6 building could be a stand alone to give space for the 1/18. Got plenty of stuff including one of Flyboy's styro bombed out buildings. What the heck, why not? Got the stuff and as always I like to improvise to keep do...

The real "Rat Patrol". Dragon does a nice 1/6 model of it. It's a favorite with the 6th scalers because it's an open canvas you can fill with tons of accessories and guns in seemingly endless variations.
