Re: Schleich Knights No More?

One other point about these fine Schleich and later Papo or BBi figures, don't let the name "Schleich of Germany" fool you. Like the Papo, BBi or any of our other beloved figures and vehicles, they're made in China.

Re: Marauders at JoeFest

Impressive. 1/18 figures have come a long way. Body proportions and head sculpts are more realistic. Much better job of blending in articulation joints. Overlay of accessories helps there a lot. Molded in belts, web gear and such was no help covering joints. There's still the assumption everyone is ...

Re: Schleich Knights No More?

The last of the Schleich Knights were just a tab larger and are just about at 1/18. Articulated figures tend to be tall, thin and standing straight up. Knight figures tend to be in combat poses with bent knees and body leans. The last of the knights on horseback were exquisite in detail. Even late P...

Schleich Knights No More?

Just recently while looking for something I stumbled across a plastic tote packed away and not remembering what was in it I opened it finding my long since forgotten Schleich and other brands of knights and assorted accessories I hadn't seen in 8-10 years. I began pulling out men and horses and reac...

Re: Area-21 news

Apparently Hobby Boss has gotten ahold of either 21st C. or Admiral molds as their Me 262 and F-86 are reported as repops from pre-built molds similar to the FW 190A series from the Merit molds. I've seen the sprue trees from the 262 and agree as it's quite simplified and has the same incorrect sing...

Size does matter. After 1/18, even 1/32 seems small.

Re: Area-21 news

I too remember that first time seeing a 21st Century 1/18 plane in TRU. It was the 109E. My first reaction was What the ****? It looked perfect in the box. You couldn't tell how far from the accurate shape, overly thick wings and bad landing gear it would have in this unassembled configuration. The ...

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?

Yikes! The thick web gear straps are ugly on the U.S.troopers. And the tank tread surface texture doesn't help. It doesn't look anything like that. That first guy is wearing what looks like a U.S. reinforced Airborne uniform complete with Corcoran jump boots. The yellow tan color is too light but mi...

Re: Area-21 news

Wonder how many 21st century 1/18 molds Hobby Boss managed to get? Their Me 262 and Huey are allegedly from 21st Century molds.

Re: SBD on the Bench

Here's a fairly nicely detailed FW 190 cockpit. Not as well detailed as your SBD but........... https://i.imgur.com/PbLGgEQ.jpg I took this picture standing on the wing of our Museum FW 190F during its restoration. Yes it's the real thing and doesn't have as much detail as your model!!! I'm usually ...

Re: SBD on the Bench

Starting to tie together nicely??? I think you're being a bit too modest. For me when a project is "starting to tie together nicely" means I finally got the fuselage halves glued together or didn't foul up mating the wings to the fuselage. :P

Looks like the engine will start and the plane will fly! It so reminds me of some of the full sized restorations at the Museum with the different components being so individually worked on and highly detailed. Amazing! :salute:

Re: Hobby Boss 1/18 Huey kit

Hobby Boss seems to have gotten several molds from the old 21st Century 1/18 planes. Their 1/18 kit of the Me 262 has been found to be the the same pieces as a disassembled 21st C. kit by one person who bought it. Will likely see more coming out if these get any traction.

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?

1/18 figures and smaller don't do well in closeup pictures. They're definitely candidates for the three foot rule. Cloth clothing at that scale is surely impractical. I struggle with snaps, belts, hooks and buttons in full scale! 1/6 gives me fits at times. If they're small enough to be in scale, th...

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?

I think 1/18 figures have about reached their zenith for ones without cloth clothing covering the articulation. These and the Marauders would be hard to improve on without $50 a figure.

just got the Squadron "pamphlet" that used to be a catalog. The 1/32 A-26 as well as the 1/18 Me-262 are featured in the hot new item section. Can't help but wonder what disasters lie in the 262? HobyBoss hasn't done itself any favors with the mistakes on the B-24 or the wrong engines on the A-26. T...

The ladder came out great! With the right background, a crew chief on the ladder, some ground equipment (does any exist in that scale?) you'd be in Thailand.
