Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?
That does look good. Especially with the three foot rule. I agree on the hands. I'd paint the hands to look like gloves since they're so over sized. The K98 looks a bit bulky too as well as the chinstrap. I know, nitpicking but based on the price, expectations should be high though you're not...

Impressive isn't good enough. I'll have to think of a better term. And it doesn't even have the ordinance yet!

Re: Old Hornet Project Revisited
Sounds familiar! I'm probably my biggest critic and one reason why I have such a hard time finishing projects. I'm always finding that one more thing that's just not good enough. What I'm seeing here is some more of your fine work. I'm sure you'll end up with the best looking speed brake anywhere. :...

Re: Winter Shermans W.I.P.
Here's the BBi Sherman. Still needs a tow cable but otherwise finished. https://i.imgur.com/UZOZEea.jpg https://i.imgur.com/134NJYh.jpg Just have to figure out my diorama scene in 1/18 (and a place to put it). I have 2x 75mm Shermans and a howitzer model to go up against 2 Tigers and a Panther. Seem...

Re: another forum questiion
Wow! this is the truly dark side of social media and forums. People with pent up anger and or other emotional issues use the cowardly anonymous tool of these forums to live out their need to feel powerful and assertive. Many have jobs where they have to just do what they're told but think they know ...

Yes, I bought a weathering kit of washes and such from Vallejo. I like their products.

Re: 1/6 ITEMS
I could tell enough from the pictures the detail work that was done. If that copter was in an outdoor scene it would pass for the real thing. I must try to improve my Pak 38 to get the finish closer to the one you have on your cannon. Very inspirational.

Re: 1/6 ITEMS
Inspired by my boyhood favorite TV series "Combat!" I've depicted a scene like so often took place on the show. Seemed whenever the squad would hear vehicles coming, they would take cover in any nearby structure. Almost without exception, the Germans would choose that exact place to stop and take a ...

Still need to find an inside door handle but other than that, the structure part is complete with debris and articles scattered about and troopers in place.

Starting to finalize my scene. Here, like any good officer, the Lieutenant is having his trooper stick his neck out to see what's out there.

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?
Will there ever be 1/18 figures that can get close to poses like these without showing all the hinge joints?

Re: Winter Shermans W.I.P.
After viewing pictures of winter Shermans and some really great 1/35 models built by pros, I decided the tracks and road wheels needed to be dirtied up more and I added grunt1's shackles and a homemade tow cable. Doesn't show up well in the front but it's just as well as it's kinda crude but at leas...

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?
Those modern military figures have an advantage of the body armor, knee pads and all the gear distracting from the articulation. WWII figures don't have all that. It's one of the nice things about winter figures that wear heavy jackets and long coats to cover shoulders, elbows and waist articulation...

Re: 1/6 ITEMS
I see a lot of great detail work in those pictures! Man, you nailed it on both the copter and the Pak. I have the stock Dragon cannon I thought was good enough right out of the box. Not anymore. There are so many opportunities with 1/6.

Great job on that tman! If only the figures were as realistic. Those robot arms and legs! UGH!

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?
TMan, Razor - good to see you guys. Related, what website will let me imbed pics right into the thread here? I would love to showcase these guys and share some comparison shots. Imgur.com is free, works great and I've posted over 100 pictures with it on here. What 1/18 really needs is figures that ...

Re: 1:18 Scale UD-4L Dropship Scratchbuild
Wow! You don't have to be a Sc-Fi fan to appreciate this project. Very wise doing the modular components. That thing is massive based on the size of the figures next to it. Outstanding!

Winter Shermans W.I.P.
Been working on these two customs simultaneously. The first is the 21st C. "winter" metal version. The other is the plain dark green plastic version. Wanted to change up the stowage a bit so they weren't quite identical twins. Still tweaking the finishes a little but they are nearly done. Not sure w...

Re: W.I.P. Winter Tiger
Here's the redone original Tiger that started out in panzer gray. Added a number to the rear turret. Decided to not redo the Panther altogether. Just dirtied up from the road wheels down. The out of the box example had too much white and bright yellow tan down low where the weathering spray didn't c...

Re: W.I.P. Winter Tiger
After some frustrating and aggravating issues with my big 1/6 project working with uncooperative---no make that combative... tiny buckles, snaps and buttons on some of the figures resulting in broken straps and lost buttons, I decided to take a break and work on something else for a while. Still tin...
