Re: Something new from FOV

I mentioned in another thread something else new I noticed from FOV, and now I finally have the pics so I can post them. What I found was a large box, like 1/18 tank sized, with many 1/32 modern soldiers in it, lots of accessories, and a 1/48(?) Blackhawk. It did have the small shelter thing that I ...

Re: Forces of Valor 2012 Releases

Ok, remember when FOV had roughly three different sized vehicle offerings? Big box = tank Medium box = truck/halftrack/assualt gun Small box = Jeep/motorcycle/****wagen How about we aim for one of each per year? It doesn't seem to ambitious. If nicely spaced it would keep folks from getting all grou...

Re: Forces of Valor 2012 Releases

More modern! And Cold War! Please not just another Sherman. I can't say I'm onboard with the "no more trucks" thing, my armies are a little tank heavy at the moment. I can go for some more trucks. I just wish there was still an "Action Grade" line which would offer $25 trucks (up from I think would ...

Re: Something new from FOV

Ok PanzerArm, I picked up a set. Why don't you shoot me a PM and we'll take it from there.

There was another set there, but I only got the one, so if anyone else wanted one you'll have to let me know. I also completely forgot to look for the one with the 55 gallon drum shelter. Oops.

Re: secret rocket-assisted C-130

Last I had heard, word was that Fat Albert's airframe was starting to show stress from all the repeated assisted take offs, so they decided to stop doing them. This was some time after the decision was made to stop using the correct term RATO for (R)ocket (A)ssisted (T)ake (O)ff. The reasoning behin...

Something new from FOV

I was at Target today and I came across something I hadn't seen before. $10 packs of 1:32 soldiers, which isn't really anything new, but these packs had fewer soldiers, but one "big" accessory per pack. One pack had a destroyed truck and the other a small shelter made of sticks/logs and 55 gal drums...

Re: Completed 1/18 Quad 50 Resistance Guntruck (image heavy)

That is nice. A far cry better than what my insurgent forces have at their disposal. They have a quad fifty as well, but in the back of an overworked pick-up, with nothing in the way of armor. Which is ok with me, as I wholly expect them to lose, but I had a spare, somewhat broken quad fifty so... MV

Re: A question of sculpting medium

Actually, head gear was the first thing that came to mind for me. Not helmets so much as turbans. I also thought it might make good Zimmerit, but that would really seem out of place on an Abrams. I'll try to post some better pics of it used for free form scuplting (if thats the right word for it).

A question of sculpting medium

I thought I'd ask here if any of our resident customizers worked with acrylic, the sort that is used for artificial nails? My girlfriend is a nail tech, and as you might imagine, I'm a bit more familiar with the nail scene than most military collector, so you'd think that if anyone was going to be u...

Re: New 1:32, out of the way source...

I also have one of the Apaches, however, mine is in the Testors kit form, and is put away in a box somewhere, still unassembled. I'm hoping to, well, basically remodel the a spare bedroom in our new house and have a nice work space, which I'll then be able to use to complete such projects. I've been...

New 1:32, out of the way source...

I bought my first new 1:32 in what is likely years this last weekend. Keep in mind that while I collect favorite pieces from all eras, my primary focus is modern, so things are even worse off for me right now than for those who focus on WWII. Be that as it may, I also try to keep an eye out for civi...

A-10 But really, anything modern would be fine with me, the teen series fighters, helicopters... Maybe even transport aircraft, C-5, C-17, C-130, imagine the dioramas that could be made with tanks inside of planes... But it will never happen. I'm supposed to be grateful that a manufacturer might gra...

Re: whats the most sought after 21C 1/32 plane???

Well, see, here's the funny thing... Most sought after isn't always the same as most in demand. Many, heck, most of the demand is met fairly easily. It's only when someone wants something a bit out of the norm that that they have to go seeking it, and thus making it a "sought after" item. For exampl...

Yeah but where you gonna find all those egyptian college students for your diorama? Don't laugh... As someone who perfers 1:32 modern armor, it's darn difficult to find normal stuff in 1:32. Cars are few and far between, and even then, mostly exotic sports/luxury vehicles. How am I supposed ...

Re: looking for a wire mesh

What sort of pattern are you looking for? I've found good stuff in Micheal's/Jo-Ann's/Hobby Lobby in the sculpting area. It's used as a form underneath materials like paper-mache. I think it's in both grid and diagonal grid patterns. Hope that helps.

Re: I'm moving away from 1:18th…what scale to replace it????

Ruger, I have to disagree about 1/32 being as dead as you say it is. At least airplane wise. While it's true that the cheap 21C days of nicely prepainted and assembled models are over, there seems to be a lot of stuff coming up in the modeling world to fill that gap. 1/32 bombers are starting to be...

Re: I'm moving away from 1:18th…what scale to replace it????

I guess I should add my response here as well: As much as it pains me to say it, being a diehard scale purist of the 1:32 sort, 1:32 seems to be just about as dead as 1:18 these days. Releases are few and far between, and what does get released just keeps getting pricier. 1:48 never really seemed to...
