Re: F-15 and J-11 JSI

If you got the first "spotcat" and had to repaint it yourself or pay someone else to do it you wouldn't have to ask why these two may never see the light of day.

Re: MH-60s Blackhawk and 1/18 Figures arriving on 17th

As noted before - looks too "green" but maybe the pics don't do it justice. The crew chief window appears to be solid plastic, they could have at least put in a piece of clear plastic there - makes it look to PTE-ish if you know what I mean. For $160 details should be much better. It's nice that the...

Sorry, Aferg - thought you meant the gunner figure that was in the BBI pictures - he looks like the Chopper Harris and no he doesn't have a sand filter face mask.

The pic you posted does look like Howard the Duck though.

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter

I bet they got the idea for the winglet plug from Pickel - it's an easy way to finish the end. It would have been nicer to have a real finished end on it however with the Nav lights and all. I'd still get Pickel's winglet ends with the lights on them even if I got the new blackhawk - that is of cour...

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter

With these new pictures, it doesn' t look too bad. Hard to tell from the small pic but the markings may not be as bold as they appeared at first at least judging from the tail marking. Wish the pictures were bigger though. Still want a DAP version though as well - this may be easier to convert than ...

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter

granch, Yeah, I know not all the 160th hawks have fuel probes. Some go wingless (like in Somalia and protrayed in Blackhawk Down and the mystery one pictured in this thread), I believe they can all be configured with or without the external fuel tanks on the winglets, and some have the fuel probes. ...

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter

Did anyone else notice that there is still clearly a "hole" in the cabin floor where the seats were removed or "not installed"? It seems that they should make the floor solid if the seats aren't there. At first I thought that this was a custom, but it does appear that the FLIR and Radome sensors on ...

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter

Pickel, Don't give up on your DAP accessories. Even if (and I still believe its a big IF) BBI comes out with a retooled Blackhawk, looks like all they added are the miniguns and radome and Flir. Still no fuel probe, crab-eye sensors, or most important for me - the modified winglets with the M230 cha...

Re: Picking up the Gauntlet

I know Birddog would agree that the A-10 deserves some more consideration - isn't that why you dropped it as a possible project for you before (cause SkyWorks was going to do it). I remember you were "testing the waters" at one point to do a full build of the A-10. Maybe those reigns are a bit heavy...

I doubt it was "internet bullies" who led him to close shop. More likely, he couldn't come through on too many promises - got in way over his head. Most of the bullying was done by people who were dealing with him and had actually sent money and not received product. These are the people not only tr...

Looks good. 8) Glad to hear about the engine exhaust, and the missiles. Kind of wish they had painted the intake white on the inside though. And what is up with the black on the outside of the intake? But for $150, a great model. I think my Wolfpack version has the black intake inside and out as we...

can these be assembled without the clear plastic vision pieces??? If these are like the 1/32 F-14s then they will look like a finished complete model. There are no clear pieces except in the internal engine parts. You can choose to leave off solid panels to be able to see the interior stuff. I'm re...

Castroww, I'm betting the pavehawk with the .50cals mounted in the cabin you saw is mine - don't think I've seen any other 1/18 pavehawks with that particular configuration. I also have Pickel's M134 chain guns in the crew chief windows. It wasn't hard to do the .50s mounts. Of course you'll need a ...

I think Option 1 is better way to go as well, although not sure I want the tail sensors. I'm in for a couple sets of the nose sensors though if you end up doing the other parts needed for the DAP version. When you said you "would do a full version of this aircraft" - is the DAP the one you are talki...

Pickel,
I just checked the Hobby Lobby coupon for this week and we're in luck - it's the 40% off any item. Now just have to hope my local one has the DAP 1/35 model in stock. I hope to make it there in the next couple days.

Re: 1/18 Scale Pavehawk nose sensor thingies

It looks like the original winglets could be modified. What do you think? Is the side weapon made already by another manufacturer ? the M230 Chain Gun is used on the Apache as well although it has a different mount. If you have a 1/18 Apache maybe a modified one could be made from that? The rocket ...
