Re: Considering a New Direction

Well, for me, I'll keep in the 1/18th scale. Of course, many vehicles and flying objects are not perfect. But the toyish caracter is easily erased with just some minor work like repainting and adding small details much mor easily than in the 1/87 (HO), 1/72 or 1/144scale. I've made a lot of 1/72 pla...

Re: New line of Western 1:18 scale action figure

I'm really not in that history period, but I like these figures, particularly the barman... Wish Kentucky Fried Toys a good success. Horses might be missing, but there is one from the Indiana Jones Serie that is really good, not like the poorly and wrong articulated one from PTE. And yes, if one tim...

Re: JSI Tomcat - Super Detailing???

I can not recommand cotton clouds, you'll have problem with removing dust in it... but it's a good idea to make a desert view. In hobbyshop, you can find an acrylic gel that dries and keeps the relief you give. I did'nt personnaly tried it, but saw ocean waves around a ship model, so it could work f...

Re: MIRAGE 2000 FRENCH SQUADRON (ghost camo) 1/18 !!!!!!!

Can only dream to have something like that. But are you sure it's a greek squadron as you wrote in the beginning? It has the typical french AF markings, and the rosette is not the blue-white-blue rondels of the greek AF, but something like low vis french one. But you corrected the topic title, didn'...

The white top disturbs me... Why not an aerial view of the ocean surface, a so high altitude taken pic that some clouds can be seen... But the black base with yellow >>> is really wonderfull.

Re: 1/18 Soviet figures ( afghanistan ) Ebay

Seems too toyish to me. And a lot of work to make them sitting, but we know that Pickel is very patient. I would choose one of the newest bbi figures, with some Marauder AK, RPK or RPG and fatigue caps, like this one: http://www.ebay.ch/itm/Ku7-BBI-Elite-Force-Marine-U-S-Desert-Ops-Army-action-Figur...

Re: 3D Printed ALQ-144 Radar Jammer

Thank you Pizzaguy for the details and pricing. I didn't think when looking on pics that the original device was much bigger than the BBI version. But if so, yes, it could be better to scale up a little bit the ALQ-144 model. Perheaps not so much than the genuine to avoid problems when placing the t...

Re: SAS patrol

Wow! 8 men platoon! is it 1/6? or bigger? May I suggest you to find a place where you can display them in a more naturel environnement. Sorry, but the pink children pool destroy the realism. A beech or any other place where there is sand (like the quarry where I usually go for my own dioramas) may a...

Re: 3D Printed ALQ-144 Radar Jammer

Excellent idea, Pizzaguy! I've tried many way to make it better. Wooden stick where I tried to cement square plastic diamonds from a child jewelry kit. Aluminum rod with filed faces. But I'm not a jeweller. Sticked folded aluminium sheet on the original piece. Well... hopeless for me to do that. Cou...

Deliberate BBI Factory Mistake?

Hi Guys, I've noticed something strange with the Marine Force serie of figures. Corporal Jackson has a green camo suit, but desert camo chest pouches and bottle. And vice versa for Major Mike, but he has a correct desert flask. The same happens with the desert helmet camo from the green dressed Colo...

Re: Merit 1/18 AV-8B Pilot?

I agree, tmanthegreat, the genuine F-16 and F/A-18 pilot are much better. But I couldn't decide to cut slices in the botom and belt of the original BBI pilots. So, less regret for making the same operation on a cheaper figure. I think that the result is very far from perfection, but it makes anough ...

Re: My small 1/18 artillery convoy

Normandy, No real weathering. It is just dried mud from a country road gutter, filtered through a kitchen sieve to get only powder, mixed with water and starch glue. And the mixture painted with an old ruffled paint brush. So, it just needs a light shower and the vehicles are as new again. Without t...

My small 1/18 artillery convoy

No american troops this time. The scenary should be somewhere in Africa, BBI soldiers have AK-74, AKSU and 1 RPK, with modified camo and chest amo pouches. Thank you for having a look in this small storyboard. http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff481/granch/P8190372-1_zpsglhvbgkf.jpg Moving the can...

Re: My Small 1/18 Desert Army

rschaap, I remember your excellent convoy diorama! If you had no platform and no pins, it was surely a hard job. Small soldiers can stand, but only on a flat and horizontal ground. But even then, their backpack is often too heavy (like the one of the old, nice bearded SAS figure from 21st Century) a...

Re: My Small 1/18 Desert Army

OK, here are some tricks: - Standing figures: I stick needles in the (prewarmed) feet (so they are softer). Using platforms is a longer job, since BBI figures don't have any holes. Then you would have to dispose all the figures and pour or blow sand to hide the platforms and finally brush the sand t...
