Re: Goodwill of Silicon Valley

Could they have lucked into some Toy'R'Us 'back of the warehouse' forgotten overstock? Both of those were sold there as I got that same 109 at the TRU next to Union Station in NYC; my first 1/18 as a matter of fact. While working for Borders Books I got transferred to Whites Plains, NY, after my sto...

Re: July new items from Battleground - Long post

There's actually a few other differences, but it would completely wreck the sets you have on offer. Most visible is the bumper; it is a post-war design. I'm talking post-1949. Here is a video of a Type 82e: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nLPfJVSH6E And using the hand crank: https://www.youtube.com...

Re: No more 1/18 Planes?

Looking at a photo online of the He 162 it just does not look right. The engine housing seems too short and fat and the canopy seems off. K&C has never looked quite right to me, and even if the price was right I would have passed on any of them. I'd much rather build an accurate kit than buy an off-...

Re: July new items from Battleground - Long post

You have to get rid of the fresh air vents on the front quarter panels behind the front wheels. Those were introduced on the 1950 VW sedans. The fact they weren't built on Type 1 floor pans is a whole other issue that is harder to fix.

Re: WTB:F-16 Enduring Freedom (NIB)

I'd be curious to now how legit that 7-rating account is. There have been times in the past where sellers have used shill accounts to bump up a price against other buyers to try and make them get caught in a bidding war. Keep watching the seller to see if he ends up listing another in oddly similar ...

Re: No more 1/18 Planes?

Don't forget that in the early days of plastic kits, they were mostly 'box scale', i.e., scaled to fit the box they would be sold in.

Re: No more 1/18 Planes?

Metric measurements would have no effect on scale. 1/32 of anything is still 1/32. It's a ratio.

K&C and some of those others just make them the size/scale they want without regard to the plastic kit market. You could ask the same question about 1/16 vs 1/18.

Remember when those Revell Raiden kits were really expensive? Then Hasegawa released a modern tooling and they somehow became less rare and affordable?

He did manage to sell a Schutzstaffel set for $320. How much was the Monkey selling those for at the end? Maybe $20?

This is one of those guys who waits for the stupid people with too much money on their hands to see his auction and stop looking because they are lazy.

You did a beautiful job with that Revell Apollo CSM model, cnq, the paint work is perfect :D What about the gold exterior on the command module? I've not seen one photo of an Apollo CSM with that color; all I've seen are more silver. https://planetary.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/images/spacecraft/2019/...

If their historical guy was into research he would know the TBD's weren't terrible planes, at least at the time they were designed. The problem was that by the time they saw use torpedo bomber tech had improved and made them outdated compared to the Japanese planes which came later. He would also kn...

Late August now? I warned of the ponzi scheme characteristics these kickstarters use. If the backer's money was really being used for YOUR project, they would be delivering on the date promised. That far future date was the first red flag I saw in the program. I'm betting the delay is them waiting ...

Apparently she's playing pilot Dick Best's wife, so I imagine we're safe from a Pearl Harbor catastrophe. I learned some cool things about Best when looking up Moore's role: He was stationed at Pensacola NAS in 1934, which is in my hometown, and was assigned to the U.S.S. Lexington although it was t...

I'm a little worried as Patriot had some errors and Independence Day was pretty stupid. He also seems to like what was done with Pearl Harbour, so should we expect some kind of love triangle thrown in?

Winterstar, I googled 1/12 Tiger and came up empty-handed, if you see a listing for that let us know...could you be thinking 1/16...? Were they possibly at the recent toy show in Japan? Apparently there was tons of stuff with the anime schoolgirls, especially having to do with Girls Und Panzers cartoon collectibles.

Looked more like a trade show for softcore porn.

You'll be doing thin layers, gradually building up the color. Thinning will kind of depend on local environmental conditions, but you want it thin enough to flow from the brush without running or pooling. It's a damn Mk I Eyeball deal. Anyhoo, brush-painting large areas is what pushed me to the airb...

No, but for a while they were selling for $40 and people snatched them. Occasionally they turn up but I guess most who wanted one got one then.

I did. Sold mine already, though.
