Re: Finally Done - Hobby Boss FW-190A5 Kit, Josef Priller, J
I've picked up some of the MM paints for RAF and US Navy aircraft but haven't tried them out yet. I did buy their thinner as it seemed to be highly recommended to do so. The Tamiya doesn't seem to want to dry out like the Vallejo does; the other night I was in the middle of applying camo to an Ostwi...

Re: Jagdpanzer IV
You are aware the Monogram Jagdpanzer is still fairly easy to find on ebay, right? Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I feel people might be more inclined to spend $40 or so for that as opposed to $200 for yours unless yours has features the Monogram kit doesn't.

Re: RC Plane Talk
While living in Orlando, I worked for a photo lab as a courier picking up and dropping off film. One of our clients was a guy in Winter Springs who had a shop and showroom of RC jets similar in quality to that F-16.

Re: Finally Done - Hobby Boss FW-190A5 Kit, Josef Priller, J
For some reason I don't much tip-drying with Tamiya and in all honesty I have never added retardant -- even though I did get drying with Vallejo. I only use Vallejo to paint small items and figures and then I just add thinner to make it easier to brush. When I am spraying I keep a piece of cardboard...

Re: Finally Done - Hobby Boss FW-190A5 Kit, Josef Priller, J
Something you can try on future mottling is to thin the paint a bit more than you normally would so that the layers come out thin. It will allow you to build them up to get that faded-at-the-edges look that replicates the way they sprayed in IRL. I still use a lot of Tamiya and I have been thinning ...

Re: What I've been working on......
That was more than a few years; it's been about a decade since those companies folded. And considering 21st's shaky condition near the end it was unlikely they were going to be able to put out any new product lines. More like wishful thinking on their part.

Also, that camo scheme was never actually used. The dark green base color overlaid with hard-edged rotbraun and dunkelgelb begun in December 1944 was the last scheme ordered by the RLM before the war ended. The July 1945 configuration is the paint equivalent of a paper panzer.

I have one by 21st that I no longer need, complete except one of the mlg doors is missing. I think there is no real difference between the two other than paint schemes.

Re: What happened to JSI?
Think about this: Each 1/32 airplane stated on the box that it was 1 of 5000 done in that scheme, and that most of the planes they made had about 6 schemes, so we're looking at maybe 30,000 of each type of plane. That's really not very many even if you take only the U.S. market into account. It woul...

Re: What happened to JSI?
I think JSI was just a subdivision of Merit International, and for simplicity Merit just ended the unnecessary extra department. I've always seen Merit mentioned alongside JSI when I've searched for it. Even on Merit's web site you see the 8.8cm Flak came out as a JSI offering initially, but later w...

I wonder how much of the market they can get back after all this time? Or will they stay a niche market and stay out of the big box stores?

Turret is too wide and mantlet is offset to far to the right.
I assume they will be double-checking their measurements before making any molds?

Re: Attaching ordinance?
If they can stay on without adhesive that would be best in case you feel like changing ordnance or need to rebox the plane. If they don't stick or you plan on never selling then superglue will certainly do the trick, although most any glue should be strong enough to hold the ordnance in place.

Ah, okay. I didn't really look at the props that closely but I see it now. I'm sure a handy person could fix that, but for $495 you should NOT have to.

Wow, the seller is from my home town.
I agree the price seems a bit crazy, even though only 100 were made (is that true?) but I must be missing something. What is wrong?

Iwata Eclipse. I got it at Hobby Lobby with the 40% off coupon, however they don't seem to carry the gravity-fed model anymore. I would avoid the Neos as they are a bargain version and have some quality issues.
