Re: BAE Hawk to replace T-38 Talon?

The Talon has been in continuous use since 1961, so it's safe to assume that the airframe is probably approaching the end of it's service life. The BAE Hawk is a proven design that is already in service with the US Navy in modified form for carrier ops as the T-45 Goshawk, so it's not surprising it ...

Re: HM 1/72 scale observation

Yes the F-104 is very small compared to the F-105 which is a huge aircraft. No doubt about it. When the Thunderchief entered service in 1958 it was the largest single engine fighter ever employed by the US Air Force. Despite it's great size and tremendous weight (around 50,000 lbs. max takeoff weig...

Re: FOV replacement parts?

Who did you buy it from..?? If it's damaged you ought to be able to return it for a refund or replacement from whoever you purchased it from. Unimax is based in Hong Kong as far as I know, and while they probably do have a US sales rep/distributor, getting replacements for small parts like a headlig...

Re: MRC Easy Model Typhoon

I just picked up a 72nd scale MRC Easy Model Hawker Typhoon, and wow what a great little model. Very well made, and the paint work is really nice. Looks good parked with my new Corgi Wellington. :D I agree, these are really nice, especially when you consider the price. I picked up several different...

F-105 Thunderchief combat footage

Check out this film commissioned circa 1966-67 by the USAF... "The Twenty-Five Hour Day" a short (about 26 min.) film focused on the Republic F-105 Thunderchief in action in Southeast Asia. You can make the film full screen by clicking the little rectangle in the lower right hand corner of the video...

C-5 Galaxy....??

Does anybody know of a pre-built/painted C-5 Galaxy in either diecast or plastic..?? I would assume if it is available at all it would be in either 1/144 or 1/200 scale as a 1/72 Galaxy would be like 4 feet long...  My house is in the landing approach pattern for Dover and /or Andrews A...

WOW... FOV Tiger I #80204

Check out this ebay auction for an FOV 1/32 Tiger I.... While these may be somewhat less common than some other FOV Tiger paint schemes, I can't imagine they are worth this much. This looks like a prime example of an ebay bidding frenzy that runs the price of an item up to well beyond it's a...

I'm kinda partial to the "Pistol Packin" Mama" scheme, there's something about the yellow & black tail markings, combined with the red engine nacelles that makes for a nice contrast with the overall OD green scheme, and the nose art is very nice too. 8) http://www.tricatus.co.uk/CorgiAA_pages/AA3401...

Diecast can get expensive in a hurry, no doubt about that, and Corgi is considered to be one of the top quality lines. I believe that one or two of the models you listed may be available in plastic from one of the usual suspects, barring that you might consider one of the other diecast manufacturers...

I believe under current ebay policy buyers are supposed to submit payment in something like 3-5 days, but it's largely up to the seller how much wiggle room he wants to give them. I think sellers have to wait a minimum 7 days before they can submit a NPB (non-paying bidder) claim. I'm generally pret...

I've had losing bidders contact me through Ebay mad that I came in and won the auction in the last couple seconds. Re: wow, 1/72 SR71 selling on pre-order for 150.00

just how big is this model in this scale? Gonna be a big un' that's for sure. Just doing some rough calculations... the real SR-171 measures 107 feet in length, that would give you a 1/72 scale Blackbird that would be somewhere around 15 inches in length. This is by no means exact, but it will give...

First, let me say I'm sorry you got beat out in the last seconds, it's happened to me many times. As others have said, that's just the way ebay is sometimes. Looks like the "land camo" version, which was always harder to find than the "snake" version, at least it was around these parts. I would not be surprised to see it go for $200 or even a bit more when it finishes. One of 21st Century's nicest models in any scale IMO.
