Hey Matt, I do think you should do the Firefly kit if enough board members want it. I'd try your kit out. Since, I already have one and most of the components to do another, I preferred the idea of a doing an M3 Grant. However, that would not help everyone else. I should note that without the 17 pou...

Hi Phil. The main gun was custom made by one of my club members - exactly to scale. (He's actually a ship guy, and real rivit counter!). I think if you shortened slightly the metal barrel you have (from the back end) and reduced the size of the muzzle end cap, you'd be pretty darn close to scale wit...

Looks great! It's nice to see someone else doing a Firefly. Very nice work. I like all the different stuff your doing. Here is my reference site if your interested: http://news.webshots.com/album/550215107uuEOgt?start=0 It's all pretty accurate 1/18 scale. If you have any questions, let me know. Gre...

I have to agree with kamikaze. 1/32 is too close to 1/35. The detail is just so much better in 1/35, not to mention the variety, and you can build it. However,1/18 scale rules. Wow factor is a major part. Keep it growing and expanding. I am getting the B-35, the Dauntless, the F 4, the Mig 21, the K...

1/18 scale win's gold!
Hi all, The Victoria Scale Modellers just had their annual competition & display. MiG29K decided to come up and show off his stuff. Absolutely incredible! If you ever get a chance to see it in person - do it. He got gold for his F18 conversion and his black hawk helicopter navy conversion. The gatli...

Believe it or not, I used a Lego hinge with the stub ends sandwiched between two pieces of styrene for the hatch. Then drilled through the hinge and used a cut straight pin for a very strong hinge rod. I use straight pins for all 1/18 armour hinges. They do not break. For the turret part of the hing...

I hope that I'm not stating the obvious. However, If you want a D-Day Spitfire - given what prices they are fetching on E-bay, get ANY 1/18 Spitfire and paint it. That is what modelling is all about. Create your own. Find a picture or a version of the plane you admire and recreate it. Mask the plane...
