Re: Amazing 1/32 B17 dio.

Checked out the HK website. Looked at the parts layout on the B-25. 514 :!: parts. The engines are practically a complete model kit by themselves. Even the .50 gun barrels are separate pieces. Despite all the tiny detail even these planes still don't have the canopy frames molded separately from the...

Re: Amazing 1/32 B17 dio.

I went to the home-index page of the website. I was surprised to see some of the dios listed at 1/30 :!: scale with a ton of vehicles I'm not familiar with in any scale. But then I am an airplane guy. Is this an accurate listing of the scale :?: :?:

Re: NEXT TWIN ENIGINE PLANE IN 1/18

Voted for the 110 without hesitation. Can just imagine how they would butcher the more complex landing gear on a Mossie to make it retract. The B-25 would be huge and awful expensive. Probably more than the F-18s. A P-61 is nearly as big.

Re: 1/18 planes on Display at the Museum

In reply to ram04, the planes are about 8 - 10' up. The heights are staggered. I went through every picture I have on file and in my camera and don't have another of the models. I'll get some more next time out there.

Re: 1/18 planes on Display at the Museum

The insulation is kind of a dirty white unlike the snow white of cotton. I highlighted it with various colors of permanant markers.

Re: 1/18 planes on Display at the Museum

When they were building the second hanger there were some scrap pieces of insulation lying around. Soon as I saw it I thought Smoke! Originally had cotton and replaced it with the thicker insulation. Thanks to all for the nice comments!

Re: 1/18 planes on Display at the Museum

We get asked questions about the 1/18 planes all the time. Usually "Where can you buy those?" or "Do you build those from kits?". We have to tell them how hard they can be to find now. They are often astounded to here that they come that way, painted, marked and just a few parts to put together for ...

Another view of the shot-up 109. It was missing the rudder so I scratch built one and had it look chewed up.

Re: MRC Easy Model at Hobby Lobby

Searched MRC Easy Model on Bing and the first hit was their website (Model Rectifier Corp.) They have tons of jets, helicoptors, even some 1/35 figure scenes! Alas, no TBF/TBM or Stukas that appears in the little catalog that comes in the package. MiGs, Sabres, single prop planes, tanks, AFVs of all...

Re: Red Tails...

Good to hear about the amount of flying/action time. Sometimes the previews show about 3/4 of the action in a movie and the rest is boring ho-hum. If you didn't get to see "Double Victory" on the Military Channel, that is the real deal and would be a good follow-up to the movie. Hopefully they will ...

I, too, am an airplane guy that crossed over to tanks. It was about 50% inspired by this Site and about 50% from the "Greatest Tank Battles" TV series. I even have your first pictured Panther. All mine were purchased loose from one large lot and I now know I'm missing an antennae mast and machine gu...

MRC Easy Model at Hobby Lobby

I was buying Easy Model 1/72 planes at Hobby Lobby off and on for a couple of years but they rarely changed the examples of any of the planes they carried. The 40% off coupons were great. Most all planes come in a variety of markings and schemes but they would have the same one over and over. I gave...

Re: posting pics on the web (a How to guide)

Well I thank all for the info. I have many pics of 1/18 displays from our Museum and have avoided the BST Forum since I couldn't figure out how to attach a photo. This is a wonderful Forum but if it only had a simple"add attachments" button like even the simplist e-mail, Craigslist or even e-bay (wh...

Re: COLLECTORS OF 1:72, GIVE IN !!!

The biggest advantage of 1/72 is variety. The bigger the scale, the less odd and obscure you will find. You can get just about anything in 1/72 though the prices are disproportionately high, even in kits.

Just now looking at the Customs and Mods Forum. You did an outstanding job on the Dora. Love the cowl flaps! Now if there was just an easy fix to that terrible trailing edge on the wings and that horrible landing gear on the 1/18 and 1/32 21st Century 190Ds....

Re: COLLECTORS OF 1:32, GIVE IN !!

Mixing 1/35 vehicles and 1/32 vehicles is like 1/50 and 1/48. It just doesn't look right. I never understood the 1/43 craze with die cast cars and trucks. Seems an odd scale. 1/48 is so simple, 1/4"=1'. The few supposed 1/48 vehicles that were out from I think, 21st Century (at least the packaging l...

The speed of the planes is all about the MTV generation where most scenes are fast split second takes that a generation with no attention span keeps them from focusing on any one thing more than two seconds. They were brought up on Star Wars and supersonic jets. Piston planes would look agonizingly ...

Re: COLLECTORS OF 1:32, GIVE IN !!

It is always more fun to try to get something that is tough to find. As another Board Member told me it is the "thrill of the hunt" he enjoys or the "score". So I guess if the stuff was too available it would take away the adventure or quest and the importance of the piece. The more scarce an item, ...
