Re: Armor and planes in Newport News,Va

What's NRFB?? mint in box, only touched by chinese fingers, almost never removed from box, displayed put back in box, displayed generously dusted and put back into box,- what? Shipping is easy, fun, an absolute joy, AND effective in moving your stash. Reconsider depriving your long distance brothers...

probably, mostly, still here- the dust does hang around longer than it used to; fill in an empty space with and old, previously unwanted scheme on occasion- just to keep a semblance of interest, you know...

Re: 1/18 scale prices?

Yep, I'll occasionally fill in an empty 1/18 AC space with a scheme I ignored in the past- I don't go for the NIB stuff. The 85-120.00 or so pricing for displayed stuff is sufficiently seductive, but the 150-300.00 pricing for non-customized piston engined AC is not my thing.....a lottery win or une...

Re: 18 AC display makeover- not too fancy

sheets of half inch birchwood seem to be thick enough and look nice enough for shelving; but its 37.00 a sheet a Lowes instead of 19.00 for flimsier, rougher sheets http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii47/usernamemdg/IMG_0332_zps2lwpfwbu.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii47/usernamemdg/IMG_03...

the short tits broke- if the epoxy doesn't hold the two, I will probably zzzz-wheel straight across the edge and epoxy a length of the rod in the cutout

Fix for broken 18th FW190 wheels- opinions?

I don't know if 2 part epoxy will hold with the nub that broke off each wheel- magically; I didn't even touch the plane.....I found an old box of insulation support wires and the diameter seems about right and they're rigid enough. I would have to just sand off the remaining pins, cut a 3/4 or so le...

What paint scheme for 21st F86 sidewinder missiles-

Between work and home life I just realized they're boringly white! I did some googling, but am not satisfied with what I found. I found good pics of Corsair and Avenger ones. If I can find some schemes, I'll paint and use some instead of the tanks

So which of your other, older customs do you still have available? any? This may require a long reply....or a really short one :( .

I've run out of 18th piston AC and tanks to buy.. do you still have a V-1 transporter available?

Re: 18 AC display makeover- not too fancy

done with this one, as time allowed. I sanded, spackled, and painted a little better than the earlier ones. I also found a Jabo to mount on the top in the middle of the p-47 display http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii47/usernamemdg/IMG_0326_zpsxbmlj8pt.jpg the 109's and p-51's are too crowded- not...

Re: 18 AC display makeover- not too fancy

The Falcons... not so much. - well who else is there down in these parts? I'm assuming you don't have cats? - We have two cats; they've lost interest, though. I did find one of the avengers laying on the concrete on day, minor repairs necessary- no one fessed up. Don't see much margin for unintenti...

Re: 18 AC display makeover- not too fancy

Great work on those shelves! In the second or third to the last post, your design has the two very skinny posts (in back), with the planes heavily exposed for viewing. How are they stabilized? Doesn't look like you used a cross member between the two at the top. They are just free standing straight...

Re: 18 AC display makeover- not too fancy

thanks. I think you just get bored seeing the same thing all the time. Sometime its just the wood you have laying around, plus a sheet of plywood every once in a while, jigsaw, screws, saw and a miter box (sp)? The old display really wasn't bad I guess, but it was just too crowded; same problem with...

Re: 18 AC display makeover- not too fancy

I'm gonna change the 47's again, the single shelf is too cramped and I want to display side forward- to see personalizations. The side braces will be narrow side forward and a little closer to the center, so they are not so obvious. I will also crisscross the base plywood with pressure treated 2x4s ...

Peddinghaus decals/stencils- difference?

the 1 18 AC sheets shown on their site all seem to be stencils, they look like a decal sheet to me.... whats the point? plenty of youtube info on decals, stencils on models? basically nothing. What are you buying for 20-40 bucks?
