I think these were dubbed "Junior" because IXO regarded them as toys for children---but that's just a guess. I have a Hasegawa pre-built Zero which is rather good and I understand that they also put out a P-51D----both a long time ago---then gave up on the idea. As for Trumpeter, who knows, but it wouldn't surprise me if they saw Hasegawa doing it and tried the same thing.
