Re: Surprising Decal Silvering Problem
This happens somtimes, AF. In some cases, it's the way the Dullcoat spray is applied. If you spray too close or from directly above, there can be an adverse chemical reaction on the decals and the paint. On other occasions, the decal may seem to set correctly but actually, some air bubbles remain. A...

A Hachette F4F-3 Code 3
With Hachette announcing a 1:100th scale TBF and a 1:87th scale SBD as its upcoming releases--both in early 1942 USN red dot and tail stripe markings, I decided that they needed an escort I took an extra 1:87th scale Hachette F4F-3---also a 1:87th scale model---and converted it to a USN gray bird wi...

Re: Hachette Announces A TBF and SBD
The pics are not coming up Ed. A Coral Sea TBF huh? Thought they just barely arrived for Midway. :?: The link is working for me, D. You have to click on the pictures in the lower right to get a somewhat larger view. By "Coral Sea" I meant the TBF has red dots and tail stripes. I thought that Midway...

Hachette Announces A TBF and SBD
I realize that this cannot compare to the enthusiasm caused by HM's decision to offer a 1:72nd scale Mig-23---first one due next April----however, Hachette has just posted pictures of a 1:100th scale TBF in what looks like Coral Sea markings, and a 1:87th scale SBD, plus a ME-262A. For those who mig...

Re: My WW2 Chinese Nationalist Air Force
That's a spiffy collection Epap. Sone nice unusual items. Is the SB-2 a prebuilt or a kit you made? I thought the Model Power P-26 was much larger than 1/72? I bought an Amercom one that i plan to make into a Phillippine Air Force P-26. Thanks, AF. The Model Power P-26 is, actually, a fair bit larg...

Re: My WW2 Chinese Nationalist Air Force
So I thought that a few members might be interested in some of the other planes that the Nationalists employed---they used planes from Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Russia and the U.S., mainly. Here is a trio of 1:72nd scale Polikarpovs---the Oxford I-16, another I-16 via Model power and an I-153 f...

My WW2 Chinese Nationalist Air Force
I just received one of those Oxford rehashes of an Atlas Editions I-16 in Chinese Nationalist colors and gave it my usual upgrade---adding a pilot, lightening the underside, painting the rear of the prop blades black, plugging the screw holes, etc. I don't like the green the factory used, but I left...

Re: What happened to Easy Models?
I noticed the same thing, regarding most Chinese seller listings on eBay a few weeks ago, AF, though a few are still to be found. There seem to be plenty of other Easy Model listings, though, so this may just be a temporary problem of some mysterious sort. I haven't heard that EM has given up the gh...

Re: IXO "Junior" Question
I think these were dubbed "Junior" because IXO regarded them as toys for children---but that's just a guess. As for the quality, it's pretty poor with numerous design errors, missing parts, terrible paint jobs and markings, stick-on pitot heads---where they have them, no pilots, lousy stands, etc. a...

Re: Trumpeter Pre-Built Models?
I have a Hasegawa pre-built Zero which is rather good and I understand that they also put out a P-51D----both a long time ago---then gave up on the idea. As for Trumpeter, who knows, but it wouldn't surprise me if they saw Hasegawa doing it and tried the same thing.
