Re: BBI's "Erich Hartmann" Bf-109, where to put the k98 ?.
I think you're right. You probably wouldn't be able to show the rifle in use by Hartmann, but his crew chief did on one occasion take a rifle and go out to rescue the pilot after he crash-landed his '109 behind enemy lines. Perhaps there's a diorama in their meeting. I didn't have a clue he bagged a...

Re: A PSA on how not to do a destroyed vehicle custom
But then there's always the 'but it's a war prize being used as a range target' scenario However, Here's the thread in summary: It's a piece of cr*p from a bad QC batch built by a five year old which depicts a tank stepped on by Godzilla then hit by a 5" naval gun exploding with so much force that p...

Re: BBI's "Erich Hartmann" Bf-109, where to put the k98 ?.
In the cockpit. Hartman was that good a marksman, he had all other armament removed from his aircraft and used to down the enemy warbirds with just one or two rounds fired from his trusty rifle. Or - as provided by greendevil41 on the BF-109G-TROPICAL thread.... The correct answer given in excellent...

Re: tiger help
As far as I can find, with the possible exception of 5 vehicles issued to Panzer Lehr, all the Tiger I deployed into Normandy were with one of three tank battalions; Schwere Heers Pz Abt 503, Schwere SS Pz Abt 101, Schwere SS Pz abt 102. All the references I have indicate that the three units painte...

Re: Dragon 1/6 tank
I got to see an Armortek 1/6 Sherman this weekend, so now I have a good idea of the physical space the Dragon model will take up. There was also a 1/6 King Tiger made by the same company, complete with scale zimmerit, and in a similar scheme to the 21st 1/18 prototype. I really hope that's where Dra...

Re: Merit 1:16 Tiger I, Kurland, Eastern Front,
Agree with previous comment, it looks good, a Tiger from Schwere Panzer-abteilung 502.
For a mid production vehicle it should have zimmerit, although it wouldn't stop me buying it.

Re: Best 1/72 Armor
Hello and welcome Dragon Armour for me, but watch those duplicate releases; You'll get the tank issued on it's own, then later limited or special editions will be exactly the same model but with a bit of grass for a base, then reissued with a wall, then again with a wall and a bit of grass, then - h...

Re: FW-190D
Jnewboy Did you ever find another Dora with red or green spiral? I've found colour profiles of several 190D in the H&C Planes and pilots series FW190 volume, which show the green/white spiral spinner, but unfortunately the book has no reference details on where they got the information on colours, m...

Re: Dragon 1/6 tank
You were actually correct, that is the model we've been discussing, I just wondered if that's where the picture came from. Shame about the Museum, I'd forgotten about it 'till I saw your location. I moved down South from the North-West in the early 90's, - I've not lost the accent though, apparently...

Re: Dragon 1/6 tank
Hello Wrights Collectables Thanks for the picture. Isn't that off the Dragon Expo site? I've been looking for obvious flaws on the tank, but it does seem to be a really good model. As Threetoughtrucks mentioned, there are always going to be Rivet counters, but I'm not one. It looks like a Sherman, t...

Re: Dragon 1/6 tank
Threetoughtrucks As I said, made me laugh when I realised what I'd actually missed....or not..... The other thing that was a bit of a puzzle, why are people complaining about the type of Sherman to be released? Dragon have got to start somewhere, and they are a company who always make the most of th...

So I spent two hours frantically searching the internet for a new budget range of Dragon tanks in an unspecified scale, and all the time it was a small dog in a toy tank.....
Curses.
Note to self; Must upgrade computer.
Cheers!

Re: 1/18 World War I models for Merit or BBI?
I too wouldn't go for WW1 Aircraft, but that applies to any scale, they just don't appeal to me, and there are just too many other later aircraft which I'd prefer to see issued/have in my collection. I don't think all WW2 Bombers are too small in 1/48. Each of my Franklin Mint or Monogram B17s B24s ...

Re: um....was this the true colour of Zero's?
No new shades for me at the moment thanks! I'm sticking to my own personal view that the Light ash grey is an untreated aircraft, and the Ameiro shade is the result of varnish/stain/sealer coating probably giving a pale green shade similar to the two 1/18 BBI Zero. - Which on all the photo's I saw b...
