From what I have seen on the posted photos, the russian figures look decent. How many guys with the same pose can you use though? I have some Airfix Russians with PPsh`s and their version of semi auto rifle. I have some other figures that may be Marx(?) that have M44 or M38 carbines and Markov pisto...

The M48, being one of the few USMC items out there, is a great model. The added M2 on top of the commander`s turret was added to give a better field of fire that could not obtained with the turret mounted M2. It just exposed the user to a great degree. Again an ecellent tank.

It is my understanding that M113s in Viet Nam were subject to damage by hollow charge RPGs. The fix was to place rolls of chain link fencing on the sides of the hull to deflect or cause the round to detonate before hitting the armor(aluminum). Kind of reminds one of the "Thoma" shields used by the G...

Panzer IVs were being delivered right to the end-brand new not rebuilt. In the book "Armagedon-the battle of Nazi Germany", the auther interviews Panzer troops who took delivery of brand new PZKW IVs in the final weeks of the war but couldnt use them since they had no fuel. It was amazing that Germa...

In my library, I have found one partial photo and three diagrams of the system on three different types of tanks. It may have been more common than we figure since the Germans were not taking as many photographs of their own equipment towards the end of the war so the documentation doesnt exist. I w...

I wonder if the vinyl screen would be easier to work with. The one diagram I have seen of the Thoma shield shows a solid plate at the front end of the shield system. You can see it in your upload. It looks like paired rivited or bolted fasteners used to hold the shield to the brackets. Yes a simple ...

I have seen one photo showing the Thoma shields. It appears to be a square patern(like window screen) with a zig-zag pattern running through it. The window screen is a good idea as it is pretty close in both pattern and size. The mounting frame is something that may need a little more reasearch. It ...

Thanks Centone for making me eat my words. :D Yes you are correct in that the tank is a "J" version owing to the lack of side vision ports for the driver and RO as well as the elimination of pistol ports on the turret side hatches. These tanks has side skirts(mostly) as well as "Thoma shields" that ...

This is true. We tend to forget their attemps in the aircraft area. The helicopters are great and the jet fighters are good as well. I didnt know that the interiors were white. The rounds were in 10 Round clips(boxes) and there were storage areas in the tank for 18 clips. That makes for 180 rounds total. There were about 2500 rounds of 7.92mm machine gun ammo carried. The 20mm gun could fire as long as the tigger was held, but it was possible to shot one round at a time.

You make many valid points about the FOV stuff. I never noticed the missing door on the Bradley TOW launcher. Great observation on your part. The grammatical stuff with the M26 is a given, but not forgivable. They also put the wrong weight on the yellow bridge plate. It should be a 43 instead of a 3...

I would bet it is a design thing rather than cost management. I agree with Tman in that the T-34 is solid, hefty and well designed. The M26 is also a nice piece but the running gear is lousy. The German halftracks are too delicate in my opinion*. But I imagine they are trying to achieve a level of d...

The national markings, the white squares, are simply masked and painted with an airbrush. I used Archer dry transfers for the name and number. I airbrushed the vehicle using the Polly-S water based paint. A good paintbrush would also give a decent finish. There doesnt seem to be a problem with painting the tank itself as far as paint adherance is concerned. I just painted over the FOV paintjob without stripping. I did seperate the top of t...

The Sherman tank story is true. It showed up in an article in the Army`s internet version of "Stars and Stripes". I believe it was a US Marine unit that took the tank and "restored" it into a US Army scheme. It is on display over in Iraq and there may be plans to bring it back to the States.
