Thanks for the kind comments, men. It means alot coming from fellow members. The Commander is from an early tiger or panther(I think) and the gunner is a basic early edition German soft hat infantryman with some of his strap details shaved off and repainted in black. I am impressed that you guys not...

Here are some shots of my modified panzer. I filled the holes on the drive sprockets and I painted over the black rivits on the road wheels. This seemed to help a bit. I installed a headlight on the base 21st provided and I installed a bar to support the track links on the front of the chassis. I ga...

I thumbed through some of my PZKW IV books and there is a version of track link that appears once in a while that seems to have a solid center which kind of looks like the 21st tracks. Ther photos show a much more concave or depressed center rather than the pronounced chevron as on the 21st models. ...

For those of you who have been inspired to try this, the one thing I would do different would be to "flip" the skirts so the flatter edge is down and the angled edge is on the top. You could probably shave off the one small skirt section that bends in toward the sprocket as it, from what I can tell,...

An Avenger in 1:32 would be very very excellent. A Stuka would be great too. 21st`s aircraft are getting better and better. I have considered giving up the 1:18 stuff to make room for more 1:32, but I like my F104, Stuka and Spitfire and cant wait for the Avenger. I wish 21st would duplicate it`s 1:...

Playing with parts/Stug IV...
I took one of my 21st Cold Steel PZKW IVs and removed the lower skirts to make it look like the 1:18 version. I always liked the look the Russian front tanks had. Anyway, I had the skirts laying aound and after shoving them around to different locations on my work table for the tenth time, I decided...

Binder, the vision slits on the windshield armor appear to be cast in the raised position, that is the plates are in the upper position. The opening that is supposed to be there is filled in. One would just have to drill out and file the hole square(and add glass behind to emulate the windshield) to...

I was doing some research on the German 3ton Ford trucks and I came across a site that had listed the varients of flak panzers the Germans put together. They didnt list how many were built or used but they listed four prototypes built on PZKW IV chassis alone and even more built on other types of ch...

I was glad to see some changes made in the US halftrack since the M16 was first introduced. At least the hood star is correctly positioned (not upside down) and doesnt have the outline cast into the hood like the M16 did. The basic paint is better. The M2 mount is unfortunate in that the ring is not...

I hate to shoot down an effort by 21st, but the fact that I paid good money for the tank, gives me the cause to do so. It was just such a step backwards on their part that I couldnt let it pass. I wonder if they saved money by doing this or what? Usually, their next production run on an item seems b...

FOV 1:32 : Tanks good, Planes bad
My order of FOV stuff rolled in yesterday. I took a chance and ordered the Me109 along with a Flakpanzer and US Halftrack. The bad omen was parts of the Me109`s tail rattling loose in the box. When I removed the dozen or so screws to get the plane out, I was greeted with a slightly warped tail secti...

Euro Panzer IV- Not worth the money...
I just recieved a "European" release 21st Century PZKW IV and in a nut shell, it isnt worth the added expense just to get the skirts and a different paint scheme. I was suprised by the "toyish" look to this version and I couldnt quite put my finger on it until I compared it to the much superior firs...

I picked up a number of planes today. So far, the Michalski FW190 was missing the tailwheel, the Eileen P47 had a wing where the paint(or dullcoat) was applied too thin and the bare plastic was showing. The "Red 3" FW190 was just fine. I still have three more to open up. The "yellow 7" Me109, "white...

A good set a flak guys is the Tamiya artillery crew set. Sure it is a kit, but they are easy to put together and paint. I picked a set up off ebay for 99 cents. The 88mm gun should have a crew of 8 in ideal conditions. I used a Tamiya 20mm flak set for the flak panzers too. They are 1/35 but close e...

I picked up some Japanese soldiers from 21st and the problem was the opposite. The arms tended to be stuck in the shoulder sockets resulting a breakage at the shoulder joint. I ended up drilling a small hole in the ball which remained in the socket and glueing a small srew or brad with ACC into the ...

I didnt know the street names there too well, but I recall the VFW. I do know about the Flying Knights. I had some friends from Hamburg and Eden who belonged. There is a VFW across from the old Nike Base with a 155mm cannon and a M60 parked out front. That would be on Lakeview Rd. They seem to have ...

Cool . Know it well. Spent many days at Lake Erie in that vicinity. I have not been back in two years though. The Nike Site by my old house was taken over by the town and we used one of the underground missile magazines as a shooting range for our highschool rifle team. All the silos and underground...

There is a book that can be had through the website(Ed Thalen`s site) called "Rings of Supersonic Steel". I highly recommend it. They discuss the systems as well as the missles and all the bases. My father worked for Bell Labs(a Bell Telephone subsidiary at the time) on the Nike Zeus project in the ...

I would imagine the weathering adds more depth t the model. What was the device located on the top of the canopy, any idea? It almost looks like a spot light. I figured it was supposed to a rearview mirror until I looked at photos of the other models and noticed they have rearview mirrors that are d...

Action vs Enth. version of FOV aircraft
While I was at work last night, my recon patrol(wife and kids) called me from a local TRU and said they had the 1/32 FOV Spitfire. She bought it and I opened it up today and I have to say that I wasnt overly impressed with the model. It is the Action series version. The canopy and cockpit are good b...
