D'AGOSTINI JAPAN SELF-DEFENCE FORCES COLLECTION

Have any forum members seen this range of models outside Japan or may even have acquired some.

The range covers modern Japanese military aircraft (1/100 scale) warships (1/9000 and AFVs (1/72) and seems quite extensive.

gives more details.

The next announced models will be a Dodge ambulance and a Krupp "protze" truck with a 37mm PAK - both in 1/32.

Re: An Eaglemoss Pz IV Arrives

Thanks for the link. Very interesting, the bren carrier looks very nice. The scale of 1/43 gives a bit more of a substantial model than 1/72. I wish Corgi had persisted with their 1/48 diecast armour range. Evidently their management panicked somewhat a few years ago when facing bankruptcy and dropp...

Re: An Eaglemoss Pz IV Arrives

Thank you for your most helpful comments. I must confess I'm attracted to the larger scale, so I might give the series a go. I hope they do a few more tanks in the future say a Sherman and perhaps a Tiger! Some of the ones on subscription over here might have different colour schemes. Interesting th...

Re: An Eaglemoss Pz IV Arrives

Where did you get the Eaglemoss models? From Ebay? Eaglemoss have just annouced the release of this series Fighting Vhicles of World War II here in the United Kingdom, kicking of with a SdKfz 251 "Stuka zu Fuss" followed by a US M16 AA 1/2 track. Subscribers will get two models a month. The planned ...

Re: 21st Century Panther---fictional?

The photograph of the knocked-out and overturned Panther appears in Armor Battles of the Waffen-SS by Will Frey (Stackpole Books, paperback 2003). The caption identifies the vehicle as being from SS-Panzer Regiment 1, the panzer element of 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte and therefore almost ce...

Re: A Pz. III From First Legion

First Legion have two Ostfront versions of their PzKw III and two for their Afrika Korps range (one 15 Pz Div, the other 21 Pz Div). They also have produced a StuG III and an SdKfz 222 armoured car. They also do two T-34s.

FOV Firefly lands in UK

UK FOV collectors might like to know the Firefly is now available. I saw one in a Modelzone in Central London earlier today. The tracks do seem to be on the tight side as has been mentioned elswhere on this forum. The only way one is going to find out if this has caused any problems is to buy one an...

Re: FOV Firefly

The Firefly does n't appear to be available over here in the UK yet. Looking forward to getting one, though it is worrying about the tight tracks. I see FoV have chosen as their model ALLAKEEFEK which was one of the victims of Wittman's Tiger tanks at Villers-Bocage.

FOV GMC 2.5 CARGO TRUCK WITH 4X 0.5 MG

Saw this model in a model shop in central London earlier this week. It seems to be a marriage between elements from two existing models. I was unaware that such a model was in the pipeline, Did such a combination exist in WWII? The vehicle was on sale for a £59.00. I must confess it did n't do lot f...

Re: Altaya Models (updated 24/Sep)

The PT-76 looks very nice and in Soviet colours will go nicely wit the rest of my Warsaw Pact collection. The AMX 13 also looks good. I see from the Altaya site that the next model will be the latest version of the Israeli Merkava MBT. After that they seem to be doing repaints of previous releases, ...

Re: Dragon 1:18 Action Hero Space Collection Announced!

Rather poignant timing by Dragon just a few days after Neil Armstrong's death.

The figures certainly look good and I will certainly look out for them if they ever reach the UK. I wonder if Dragon plan to produce a 1/18 Moon Lander? Now that would certainly be impressive!!

Re: Altaya Models (updated 22/May)

The Scorpion seems to be sporting a rather odd camo scheme. The British Army standard pattern for BAOR and UK based equipment for the 1980s (and right up to the present) was black stripes over green, unless it is supposed to represent some sort of temporary exercise scheme.

Not partictularly enthused by the Panther Flak Coelion or the 88 on the Mk1V chasis but, on the other hand, really looking forward to the PzKw III, the LRDG truck and Dragon's 2nd "eigthy-eight".
