Re: Marauder Task Force WWII Kickstarter

Yeah everybody should definitely go check it out! Really good looking stuff in the KS. Many of the figs are conceptually a repeat of old 21C or BBI stuff, but these will be as good or better and easily customizable. Plus if they keep hitting the stretch goals, we'll see stuff that's never been done ...

Re: NEW AVENGERS FROM CHINA??!!!!!!

It's a blessing to be able to be around our Museum's fabulous aircraft... Wait - which museum - your location shows Cincinatti. I was just in Dayton and Cincy, and of course stopped at the Nat'l USAF museum in Dayton - one of my fav. places in the world! But where is your pic from?! Did I miss anot...

Re: New BBI Elite Force 1/18 Army Rangers

I still have yet to see any of these north of the border. Are these figures able to shoulder their weapons? Do you mean properly hold their weapons? If you add wrist articulation (which I did), then yes. Without that, not so much. But the arms, shoulder, vest, etc. are all positioned/sculpted right...

Re: New BBI Elite Force 1/18 Army Rangers

NOOOO!!! How did I miss this!?! :( I never saw these in stores and the web site is sold out. I never saw the Marine 5-pack at my local TRU, so it's questionable if I'll eventually see this. On the plus side, I DID find the Marine 5-pack at Ross for $13, so maybe the Ranger set will end up there (I ...

Re: New BBI Elite Force 1/18 Army Rangers

Thanks for the pics and reviews guys. Shame the last round of singles never materialized. Are there new guys on the back of the box? There are - though I'm afraid we might not see them! The last round of single packs at Target never seemed to show up - but some of those figs made it into the vehicl...

Re: New BBI Elite Force 1/18 Army Rangers

Yep - just got these the other day. As Tman said, no wrist artic, just like the Marine Recon 5-pack (re-uses the same arms and legs). And the paint is nowhere near as detailed as the pics above show. BUT at 4 figs + dog + accessories for $20 I couldn't have expected too much more. Of course I'd have...

Re: Merit 1:16 Scale M-ATV MRAP Vehicle!

Looks fantastic - thanks for the review Tman! The irony of most accurately scaled 1/18 vehicles is that 1/18 figures usually have a hard time squeezing in them. 1/16 gives the necessary space for figs to fit. And in this case I don't think the difference is too noticeable since M-ATVs are HUGE in re...

Re: roll call any groundpounders? left?

Yep, I was on the old groundpounder's site too! Been around since early 2000s (2001?) - I want to say I found the site because it was actually referenced on a 21C product box? Is that possible?!?! I give credit to 21C for basically creating a new category of product back then - the "model-toy" or wh...

Re: New BBI M1A2 Abrams ( Review VIDEO)

i did finally see one in stores! And bought it! The free store pickup / store locator should be pretty accurate. I think some stores got the BBI stuff early, and others are just getting it now before holiday shopping fully ramps up.

I am 98% sure that the rear hatch opens, but to a sparse/no-detail interior.

But yeah - about the closest thing to a 1:18 AAV-7 :) The GI Joe Warthog has much better features, but externally resembles the real deal less.

Re: BBI Elite Force Return to TRU

That's neat! Definitely worth picking up if its full size, but something makes me doubt that it will be given what we've seen already. I can see it not being tiny (like that POS M113 they released) but a little on the larger side while still being underscaled (like the gunboat). The original M1 too...

Re: My Conversation with A Merit Rep Regarding 1/18th Scale

I'm excited for the Harrier! It's one of my favorite jets, and is a living legend IMHO. Of course the delay and price point are unfortunate. But I suppose the price is about proportional to what I paid for my Black Knights JSI F-14 (which I actually think was well done). And if Merit keeps the quali...

Has anyone else found the new GI Joe 50th Anniversary collection items? They appear to be a Toys R Us Exclusive... From pictures I've seen, they look to be covering a lot of the RAH characters and toolings are overly similar to the Pursuit of Cobra series. Anyways, I recently picked up the "Danger ...

Modern fans should be very happy with the figs about to hit Target, and later the Harrier and M-ATV! And great news on the FW-190A moving along. This is all really positive direction. It would just be nice to have a couple more big players in the market, but I appreciate Merit/JSI keeping the fires ...

Re: New BBi

Agree with all for the toyish vehicles, perheaps could the M-113 have a place in the background of an 1/32 diorama... But some of the figures are interesting, if you need some more helicopter pilots at a cheaper price than the recently released Nightstalker pilot, or the paratrooper or the desert f...

These look great! Do you have more details on your project somewhere? Resin? Plastic? Snap-together for the unassembled or more like a traditional model kit? Did you already launch a Kickstarter or you're planning for one? Considering Merit showed they may be releasing a 1/16 M-ATV, I am more intere...

Re: I want a 1/18 Camel and Palm Trees

Two-humped camels (Bactrian) are really rare in the wild, and just live in central Asia. The variety you'd be thinking of for the Middle East / North Africa are Dromedary - one hump. A silly little mnemonic is a B (Bactrian) on its side looks like a two-hump, and a D (Dromedary) like a one-hump :) A...

Dig the amphibo car. Is that tracked version of the Humvee real? That's kind of absurd looking but looks almost realistic too... like they've at least toyed with the idea of an arctic humvee. I wondered the same thing! Somebody at the joecustoms discussion posted this link: http://www.americantrack...

Re: merit Announcment

I could agree that $190 to $200 for the Harrier's price would be reasonable. I bought both Dauntless's for $169 (minus shipping) which is the 1/18 standard bearer for detail. I don't think the Harrier will eclipse the Dauntless for detail. Match, sure. Exceed, no. The F-14 for detail (disregard the...
