I got my Boelcke from AG and am very pleased. Here are some shots of it along side my other German jets. Re: Introducing "Checkers" the Tomcat
Nice job! Yesterday I was at my brother's and we finally opened his F-14 (Spotcat). We were both very impressed. I brought up the new GI Skystriker to compare the two (photos forth coming) and have to hand it to JSI for making a really great plane. The packaging was great too. No problems with his b...

Re: Which 1/18 body would you put your head onto?
Return of the Jedi's Rancor Keeper. Just kidding. :P Actually, if it were a Star Wars or GI Joe body, it would depend on that figure's job and accessories. I'd say I'd put my head on any figure from Fisher Price's Adventure People line from the '70s and early '80s. Very tough and outdoorsy. For dur...

I would argue both. People come in different shapes and sizes.grunt1 wrote:So opinion-wise which one is more 1:18ish?
Below is a 21c Tiger with the small tanker. I think he looks a bit better in the tank.

Re: AllGo is all go!
I'd call it big. Once you have a half-dozen planes and another half-dozen tanks, they start to occupy a similar amount of real-estate as multiple 0-Scale toy train sets <-- emphasis on plural.
That said, semantics and we all can agree that it will be nice to see people have a shot at these.

Re: Cpt America Red Skull figure?
Thanks for the details. I didn't realize there were that many Red Skull figures out there. I believe I favor both the SDCC version (never got one) and the first (Grey coat) version from the Cap line. Oh, you should pick him up on ebay. His head sculpt is true to the silver age comics (or are they g...

...that's the "variant" out there now. Some are trying to sell him for inflated prices at auction. I suspect he's the replacement for the first release. The colors are more cartoony I think, but I'll get one if I see one. Just guessing the original looks too close to a nazi perhaps, and we'll be se...

Cool hearing the stories about the RL pilots.
And generic names are fine too ... if you go that route, while not make names of the model designers or their kids.

Re: BBI Thunderbird F-16 in 2012
When I go to airshows the last thing I expect or want to do is to make an impulse purchase of $200+ for a big toy airplane that I'll have to lug around all day in the hot sun. Online is the preferred venue for buying 1:18, although promoting the scale at airshows can certainly spread the word. Usin...

Re: BBI Thunderbird F-16 in 2012
If and when BBi releases another Blue Angel, it should not be too much of a "re-release" per se if they decal it "plane #8" and slap the name "Lt. Tomlinson" on it. Polish it up in a more glossy paint and its a different plane in many ways. So yeah. All the more reason to sell BOTH show birds that'l...

I agree. 1/18 Thunderbirds and Blue Angels would sell great at air shows! Though my brother has a 1/18 Blue Angel, they need to release it -- who cares about the value, it is a fantastic plane.

I think the Schleich trees look good. Other hand made trees start getting a little costly.... http://www.canyoncreekscenics.com/frm_trees.htm http://www.sceneryexpress.com/products.asp?dept=1003&pagenumber=3&sort_on=&sort_by= Those are the types I've seen people at train shows make right there. Re: opinions needed on a tree
Depending on what type of scene you are interested in making, you might be able to find a video on how model railroaders make their own trees by flocking a spruced out wire as assembly. Option 2: If you want to recover costs on the 3 trees, you can get them, do the photo shoot and see if you can see...

Yep. I always hate when they add silly things like the flag to tanks... but whatevs... it pleases the 5 year olds.. . A flag on a tank isn't much different than the German roundel or whatever you call the Iron Cross when Germany plastered them on everything. I like the Iron Cross on my Germa...

Re: PTE Recons
much of the price increase you're seeing is due to the drop in the US dollar. It started years ago but became pronounced in 2007-8. With the onset of the recession the US dollar went back up for a time but is now at the 2007-8 levels again. It takes time to have an impact on imported goods prices (...

Ugh, who'd want to be the old Sith anyway? I'd rather be a younger one or a Mandalorian instead if I was going to be a baddie. :) Nah, for me it's all about being one of the soldiers, ultimately for the Alliance since I just think they're more badass. Fleet Trooper, Commando, Hoth Gear, and Pilot o...

Update: One of the Sacramento, CA Big Lots had its PTE reset. Same basic items, such as tan towers, showing up further south in the valley. Interesting that the tower went from $10 in 2009, to $12 in 2010, and now to $13 in 2011. Though the Big Lots I was at had *1* green $12 (older box). The Camel ...
