Re: Rucksacks and Military Equipment Castings
Great questions! And for public disclosure, all ordnance is inert. I'm going through a 3D modeler. The addition of a third party raises the cost slightly, but his rates are very reasonable. He assures me he can model the packs with no problem. I tried doing my own models through 123D Catch a year ag...

Here are example photos from my collection of what I'm planning on casting. Of course, there can be significant variations on the accessories based on interest. Re: Rucksacks and Military Equipment Castings
Thanks for your responses. I'll post photos of the live rucks I have set up in a day or two to give everyone an idea of what I'm trying to accomplish.
As for weapons, that is certainly a possibility. I know that Cold War weapons usually get ignored with all the M-4 variant mania.

Rucksacks and Military Equipment Castings
I know that SSHQ generally focuses on WWII subjects, and I'm not planning on getting into that. Any help is appreciated so I can determine what interest there may be before I spend my money on this project. ...Posted earlier in the Fighting 1:18th... Re: 3.75" Military Dress Uniform Figures (1980's Cheapy Figu
The only one I remember in a dress uniform was the GI Joe Gung Ho in USMC blues that was available around 1988. I had one, and I believe he came with a saber and a small U.S. flag. He didn't exactly fit in with all the other Joes in combat gear.

Re: A Sad Time In The 1/18th Collecting Hobby
If the demise of 21st Century wasn't the final nail in 1:18, how would the exit of one talented custom builder be the end? I came to 1:18 because 1:6 became ridiculous. You want to talk about spending WAY too much for too little. 1:6 was attractive when I could get a Dragon figure for $40 - 50, and ...

Re: I Miss Ultimate Soldier!
I've seen variations of this thread posted all over the 1/6 forums for years and it's always an interesting study in failure. I wouldn't be a grown man collecting toys were it not for 21st Century. In the late 1990's, they were the first to really revive the GI Joe genre in a way I had always dreame...

Yes, I've been super busy as of late. I'm in the process of moving and getting married. I took a break to post these and I'll post photos of the decal sheet when I get a chance. I'll have to get a new one made as the one I have has half the decals cut out.

Re: What shall Become of all those F-14 Phoenix Missles?
It's a damned shame they won't mothball the F-14. That's the modern military for you. They scrap a system and deem the capability unnecessary until they discover in the next war that they really needed that item in the first place and don't have a replacement. None of our current fighters can match ...

Re: M-113A1 with Cupola (WIP)
The only molding compound I know well from my 1:35 experience is Miliput, so I set to work forming a cupola. It was a pain in the ass. I basically pushed a u-shaped blob into the commander's hatch and formed it around the vision blocks. Once dry, I formed it with a dremel. The first time, I cut too ...

M-113A1 Cupola Painted...Getting There!
Here is the moment I've been waiting for! Necessity is definitely the mother of invention. When I joined SSHQ last fall in the midst of my wild "I want to customize 1:18" hair, I saw Pickel's ACAV cupola's from back in 2005. Since he wasn't available, I decided to look into doing my own. I wasn't th...

Re: How to make sandbags?
When I first opened this thread I was thinking that sandbads at 1/18 should be made from Miliput, like one would for 1/35. I bought a set of the Build a Rama bags, but that is expensive in the long run and they don't really stack well. For a handful of bags on a tank, I'd stick with what Yoxfod did....

I contacted PH about the gun shields. He's a busy man and I haven't been able to nail him down on it. I've decided to cast my own, which is a new and interesting process for me. Sneak Peak - Vietnam M-113
I've seen many fine M-113 customs on here. So here is a sneak peek at my shot. It's nowhere near done and it'll be a part of a Vietnam Mech team (section of M-48A3's and M-113's).

Re: What is the most desired 1/18th figure never produced?
Anything other than WWII. I personally only collect Vietnam era and I know there is plenty of interest in it. Unfortunately, I think the interest is generally after they discontinue the items.
