Yes mine is just like the unboxed one! This confirms that it is supposed to look that way. Actually, I believe the "paint chip" weathering effect is supposed to be standard... Thanks for that input! I am betting it is on-purpose also. It is too noticable to be from mishandling when packing.

I love my F-14 but I agree that it is on the edge of being too fiddley/twiddley to display. I have mine hanging also. Looks great but one good bump and the various twiddley parts will come raining down
