Re: Bruder Agricultural and Construciton vehicles
Yeah I've been looking at getting either the Mack or Scania fire trucks, and a crane truck for a while now. The vehicles with opening doors or that are labeled "bworld" on their site will accommodate figures. Those toys are tough and at the same time pretty well detailed. It doesn't matter to me if ...

Re: What does the wife really think about 18th ?
My collection is pretty much confined to one room in the house. We don't have need for a formal dining room, so that is my HQ. Every once in a while, the wife might say something like "How many of those do you already have," or "I don't know where you're gonna find space for that." But she has her h...

Re: (Somewhat) New American Diorama figs
Really surprised by the poor detail in these (and yeah, the facial hair, too WTF) I've gotten a few of their female figurines, and the detail on those is OK. Not quite as good as the Fast Women brand from years ago, though. Guess I hadn't thought about the fact there isn't much out there for 1:18 mi...

Re: so many talented guys with projects
I had an uncle who flew the F-105D. Started off flying a few years in West Germany. Then he went to Vietnam. Did his 100 missions over the north and came back. He was real lucky a couple of times. Flew for a few years in the reserves after all that. I'd love to get a Thud in 1:18. Pizzaguy, if you m...

Re: Anyone ever get the Welly diecast 1/18 scale Jeep?
I got the red one a while back. I'm very impressed with the details under the hood and on the dash. The pioneering tools on mine have a glossy black finish with flat brown handles. I plan to weather the rods and suspension underneath just a little so they don't look so much like plastic. https://i.i...

Re: Elite Force Humvee--$11.88, M113--$10.27
Yeah... Notice how they say the figure is 1:18, not the M113. Makes me wonder what the eff BBI was thinking. Some guys at the company had to be scratching their heads over it, right? I mean, the construction and detail for the HMMWV are not the best, but they are still OK. And the plastic is strong ...

Re: Elite Force Humvee--$11.88, M113--$10.27
Man, I should have waited. I could have gotten two HMMWV's for the price I paid. And I bought mine from that same company, too. And of course right now there's still some jerk who's got a handful of them for $60 a pop on evilbay.

Re: RC Plane Talk
I found a website has a radio control F-105 Thunderchief and an F-8 Crusader. Calculating the wingspans, they are just a little shy of 1:18. Close enough, I think. Carve out a little styrofoam from inside the cockpit, and make a figure fit in. The jet nozzles look a little wonky, though. No landing ...

Re: Where is everyone?
I take a look here every couple of days. With FP Adventure People and 80's G.I.Joe being my thing, I'll probably stick with 1:18 forever. Marauder has cool modern stuff, not too bad on the wallet. Other than that, yeah the hobby is going slow for us. I still take my 1:18-ish PBR out to the pond, and...

Re: George Bush's Avenger in 1:18
It's most likely the same quality, as I doubt they retooled the molds. The only difference between this and the one I bought for $40 at Walmart is the paint scheme. Same old saggy wings too, I'll bet. Yeah, looking more closely at the pics, it probably is. I found it at the actual Aiken's Airplanes...

George Bush's Avenger in 1:18
Saw this in my late summer 2017 issue of Military Issue magazine, so I thought I'd look it up at Historic Aviation's website and it's there. It has a picture of a box that says "Flight Wings" and "Aiken's Airplanes Exclusive" in the corners. Anyone know this was coming? $269 seems a little steep. Bu...

Do the twin .50's in the front turn? Or do you have to get another servo to make that work? Great looking boat. You need some 21st Century original Vietnam figures to really add some color to your boat. Send me a PM, if you are interested. Razor Razor- Yes the twin 50's turn. The station swivels bu...

Finally painted the 50's and the M60 black. Painted the Mk18 a dark OD green. I don't have any Vietnam figures, but I'm trying to put some modern Joes in that I think work for now. Mine made it in yesterday. Sorry, no pics yet. It was a very busy evening for me. I'll get a few pics up later. In the meantime, I did open it to check that nothing got messed up during shipment, and I can say I'm very pleased with it. It looks great and seems to be very well made. The website says ...

Well, I tried my local Hobby Town, and they said they didn't plan on getting any in store, only online. I ordered mine directly from Horizon Hobby. $229.99 after using their promo code. Now I just need to shop for the battery. They sold out fast, so mine is backordered. I'll get some pics up wheneve...

Okay. Mine came in last Monday. Ordered it from Historic Aviation. I've just now gotten the opportunity to put it together. I had the same issues as Tmanthegreat with the paint. Right at the seam in the center of the nose, the top edge of the white from the shark teeth was halfway between 1/16 and 1...

Re: new Merit UH-1 Sharkmouth gunship
Wow I will try to pick this one up. Funny, at first I thought Merit might have made the gun feed chutes a little too long. Turns out they really were pretty long, I suppose to give enough slack for the guns to traverse and elevate. Did some quick research and found a forum with a lot of great pics, ...

Well this topic may be old, but I'd love to have a Sheridan in 1:18. I was in the 82d Airborne Division (A Co. 1-504) from '88 to '92, and saw the Sheridan in action in Panama and Desert Storm. If you're looking for modern, try Fisher Price Adventure People. I know I've written about them here in these forums before. There are some pr...

Re: 21st CT paint fails.
Well, with the F-104, I think the paint is actually just about on the money. The problem is they put the indentation for the popout handle too high. Putting the indentation there in the first place was unnecessary, I think. When I finally get around to customizing the 104's I have, I'll fill it in a...
