Re: What is the best WWII armor book? like an encyclopedia?
I was browsing through it yesterday, In the Italian section, there's a picture of a couple of tankettes going down a slope - it must be at 60 - 70 degrees, for what looks like a publicity shot and it's that steep they look like they are falling rather than being driven, i'm sure the crew must have be...

I'm pleased to say that we both thought we made a good deal, he got his asking price and was very happy to get the cash. As you can imagine, he was however, really sad to be letting them go, fighting back the tears as we looked over the collection - There was a lot of nostalgia in there for him - He...

Re: 1/35 Armour collection
They're all built kits which range from early Tamiya and Italeri to recent Dragon and Trumpeter. I paid under $2k for them, along with about 20 boxes of spare parts and part built items. (and a built and painted 1/32 Mitsubishi Zero....not sure how that got in there, but it can stay!) I got them fro...

I had to do a 700 mile round trip to pick up this collection - but I couldn't pass it up - There's approx 350 tanks and various afv and support vehicles covering WWI to Modern era. Multples of some tanks such as about 10 Panthers and 5 Jagdpanthers, loads of Sherman and T34 versions and about 15-20 ...

Last years RNAS Yeovilton Airday - my five year old son (He's the Sam part of my user name) and I were walking down the static taking photos, he's got a compact zoom camera, and when we stood in front of the Texan, he said he wanted to get a close up picture, which the pilot heard, and got up from h...

BETTER NEWS THIS TIME.. The RAF Museum has raised an extra £100,000 to fund a bid to raise a German World War II bomber from the English Channel. It is hoping to make a fresh attempt to salvage the bomber before next weekend. On Sunday, the museum's salvage team came within 40 minutes of raising the...

Re: merit Announcment
For me - an Excellent choice. Very happy with the AV8-B, and even happier if there's a RAF Harrier or RN Sea Harrier model in the future. BTW - Coreyeagle48 - I think the huge lot of spares the UK sold to keep the AV-8B USMC jets flying was our entire fleet of Harriers, airworthy or not, we sold the...

Re: Someone name this unit crest. Pic in last post link.
I've researched this as far as I can, and unless somebody else can come up with a positive I.D. for a tank unit that I've missed finding, I think the emblem has been made up. I can't find any army or SS unit with a similar wolf on a shield insignia, in fact the closest match I could find was Luftwaf...

Re: Question about the 1/32 iron horses panzer iv *updated p
Hi I got the text but the not the pic, but the one here is good. So far it's more what it isn't rather than a positive i.d. Because the tank has the 8-- number it's supposed to be from a formation or regiment with two battalions, but as far as I can see, it's not an insignia from a Wermacht or SS Pa...

Re: Question about the 1/32 iron horses two pack panzer iv
NHoggard12 - I'm not sure 17th SS Panzergrenadier division had a two battalion panzer regiment in its organisation - I think they had a stug abteilung for their armoured element.
Might be wrong, but that's what my references say.

Re: Question about the 1/32 iron horses two pack panzer iv
What's the symbol? it isn't very clear in the picture.
If it's a bear in a shield, that would be 3rd Panzer division.
The turret numbers make it 9th vehicle 2nd platoon 4th company 2nd battalion.

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Vulcan = When these were still in RAF service and used to perform at air shows, their displays were the loudest thing I have ever heard. During low passes, they would set off every car alarm on the base, and make everybody under the age of fifteen cry because their ears hurt that much. After the typ...

I would agree with the Graf scheme being a strong candidate, or perhaps one of the JG54 Green and brown camo aircraft.
Very happy the A is being done anyway.
