HobbyBoss 1/18 Me 262 Kit?

Did I miss this? Did we need this? Are the 21st Century versions good enough?

Re: Where Have All The Aircraft Mods Gone?

Yes, the risks of hanging large heavy models is always present. At the Museum, we had the fishing string break on a P-47. When the hangar doors are open and even when the ceiling fans are on, the planes will spin slowly back and forth with the breeze. After hanging for 12+ years, seems friction wore...

Re: 1/6 ITEMS

Thanks tman! Good to hear from you. You've been kinda quiet lately. I hope all is well. Stay safe and healthy! Noticed the passenger leaning out the side wondering where the heck the driver went didn't show up in the pictures. Also here's a close up of the tools. I used bits and bobs out of the scra...

Re: 1/6 ITEMS

Finally put what at least for now are the finishing touches on my slat grill Jeep. Dirtied it up a bit more with mud splashes and such in differing shades. Got the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines markings on it for John Basilone's unit at Guadalcanal. The representation of leaf springs and a steering rod...

I believe someone who knows better than I said it was the 2600.
Sure looks like it. But being Hobby Boss, you never know what may come out of their imagination. At least they're trying! A Japanese bomber would be nice.

It's always easier to do fiction or "based on actual events" for taking liberties in the drama and characters. The critics apparently thought he still didn't take enough. They said it was more like a docudrama. I don't think critics like true stories unless they are highly embellished.

Re: 1/32 A-26?

The wrong engines? That's hilarious! What a blunder!! I looked at the sprue pictures but didn't count cylinders. Did they assume it had R-2600's like the Mitchell? That would be a tough fix. The R-2800 cylinders are much smaller. That was the different design philosophy between Wright a...

Not impressed with the clear parts but that might just be a rough prototype. Can't tell if they fouled up anything major to concentrate on overblown details.

Re: Review: GREYHOUND

Sounds like my kind of movie. When Hollywood critics pan a movie for paying too much attention to accurate detail and not enough about "character development" I'm in. I want action and realistic action in a film like this. I can watch a quirky non historical character study movie if I only care abou...

Yes, but have you seen any of the finished builds out there? Even with its flaws it builds up into something that still says, 'B-24' and looks good to the average person. I got one for Christmas and am glad I did because there won't be another company stepping up to do it. Yes, that makes it tough....

Re: 1/32 B-24!

quite a bit cheaper than the 1/32 Lanc and B-17. If you're very familiar with the plane you will be disappointed in some areas, They completely fubar'ed the Davis airfoil, for instance. Not a deal-breaker for me but it is for others; Here's a graphic view of how bad the Davis wing was botched. Note...

 You might want to consider putting a quarter or something easily identifiable for size comparison in at least one picture to emphasize just how tiny your 1/144 models are.

Nicely done. I remember doing the clear prop disks on the planes I had hanging from my room when just a kid. Your prop blurs have taken that to a new level. I also have my Dad to thank for all my aviation and WWII passion. Curious about the smoke from the Zero. What material is that?

Mark,

Dug through a bunch of stuff and I may have found one. Does it look right to you? Seems to match ones on my 251's . You're welcome to it. Like the vast majority of the stuff I dug through, I don't need it for anything.

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?

I would welcome another company making WW2 figures, especially Joy Toy. I’ve got 2 sets so far and a couple extra single figures and they’re top notch 1:18 figures. I am not bothered by the joints as some people are because all I have to do is take off my bifocals and voila, no unseemly joints! Tha...

Hmmm... no one got my riddle? Anyway, I always liked these figures probably only because of the lack of ugly joints. They always had helmets either too small or fit funny. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MEN-OF-CHARLIE-COMPANY-US-Army-Infantry-NW-Europe-1944-Figure-Set-Dragon-Action8/283881624530?_trkparms...

Re: Do we really want new WWII figures?

That does look good. Especially with the three foot rule. I agree on the hands. I'd paint the hands to look like gloves since they're so over sized. The K98 looks a bit bulky too as well as the chinstrap. I know, nitpicking but based on the price, expectations should be high though you're not...
