Does that mean the we won't be seeing the Dauntless over at militarytoyshop.com any time soon?

Don't have a clue whether I should be pre-ordering mine or not...

OK, the clear plastic disc idea (the most obvious one) got my creative juices flowing (so to speak) and I think an interesting take on the subject might be to simulate the spinning of the propellers in PhotoShop and print the outcome in an acetate sheet or whatever your printer uses to create transp...

Now I have a question. Couldn't you use plastic bottles to practice on? I would think that they would better replicate the plastic surface of the models, they come in many differant shapes, and sizes, and most of us have easy access to them. I used to spray-paint the outside of Tamiya boxes for pra...

Before you attack a model project though, practice on lots of different shapes of surfaces and with different thinning rates. I painted the same test objects (mostly little cardboard boxes) and stuff over and over again before I got the hang of it. Amen to that, Flytiger. However, I strongly advise...

Re: Hey you custom pros...

Quick question for you customizers. Do you use air brush and air compressors regularly? I can make a deal on one, just dont know how useful they are. Thanks. Not a custom pro myself, but if you want to obtain a smooth, uniform paint job with a decent finish while retaining the maximum level of deta...

Re: This for those that cry about space and prices increase

IMHO Stop it your killing this hobby, all this whining about I don’t have space and small price increase are making the companies that make our beloved 1:18 stuff scared in making the the bigger aircraft. soon all we will have to look foreword to are repaints and more repaints along with a few new ...

That doesn't look anything like my bbi "Old Crow" if you look at the lettering it all looks hand painted. Maybe a proof of concept or something? Yep. That's what I thought. However, it's also featured here: http://www.sshqdb.com/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=373&pos=0 Must be the vast wrong win...

Slightly off topic:

I was wondering if anyone out there knows the reason why the star on the wing of this aircraft (BBI's "Old Crow") looks as if it had been painted by a five year old?

Would be nice to have an UH-1D Iroquois with door gunners to go with the Platoon figures. And for all the Full Metal Jacket fans out there, there's always The Gunny's motivational figures (there have been at least four released that I know of, including one in dessert camo BDUs—there's even a pictur...

So will the Bush Avenger be far behind? (I still don't have a single model in my as yet non-existing collection, but can't wait to get hold of one -or both- of these beauties.) BTW, can anyone of you who actually own an Avenger enlighten me as to where the radio operator/rear gunner figure should be...

Re: qc

I guess it depends on how "picky" you are also. IF there is a slight paint smudge or the weathering is uneven or something, that would bother some but not me. I usually only get mad if a piece is broken or missing. I agree. Broken or missing bothers me, but that's it. A pre-built Tamiya Model in 1/...

Re: ?

Now I have some very serious doubts that I'll ever go to such lengths just to find their models are all a mess. Which pieces are you talking about? But I think Rowsdower hit it on the head - 1:18 is huge in the model world, and these pieces - for what they cost - are a steal. They are afterall toys...

After perusing this thread, I must admit that I'm sorely disappointed in 21st Century Toys and their QC standards. I haven't started collecting any of their models yet, but was quite excited by the prospect of having a little 'treasure trove' of 1:18 models amassed by years end. In fact, not only wa...
