Re: What colour to paint my Reggiane 2005?

I usually use either Humbrol 102 ( Army Green ) or 86 ( Light Olive ) for my Italian fighters AF, depending on the nature of the scheme, the markings and whether the plane is supposed to have seen some action or not. AF. I think that the color you used is fine, but maybe needed a 10% dose of white t...

Now, the underside. I should note that the wing and tail flaps do, indeed flap---in some cases more than one might desire---and the landing gear is retractable. Here's a shot with the wheels in the "up" position:Image

Re: A 1:72nd Scale Chinese TU-16 Arrives

Andrew noted the unusual placement of the fuselage side insignia, which is usually farther to the rear and more centered. I found the same on most pictures of the H-6k. However Terebo included a small brochure with pictures of the model and one of actual H-6Ks which seems to support the way the mode...

A 1:72nd Scale Chinese TU-16 Arrives

Thanks to a tip by Andrew who runs this forum, I was put onto a french seller who was offering a 1:72nd scale diecast replica of the Chinese version of the Cold War Soviet jet bomber---the TU-16 or "badger". This comes via a dealer named Terebo, which often puts its name on AF1 and other products, s...

Re: A 1:72nd Scale DeAgostini Tojo Code 3

I bought a number of these models for code 3 purposes and took one which needed repairs as my first subject. The oversized fuel tanks are easily popped off, leaving two small mounting holes and a little dried glue, so I ditched them. The canopy can be pried off---with care---so off it came to allow ...

A 1:72nd Scale DeAgostini Tojo Code 3

As some may know, there's a new subscription line by DeAgostini serving the Japanese market with a series of about 60-80 WW2 diecast aircraft models, that is up to number 27 at this point. The vast majority of the line will consist of old IXO models---some with new schemes, many in their original ga...

Re: Why is the negativity on other forums not found here?

I believe that another factor is the age of many of the more hyper critical posters on the other forums. Many seem to be younger---like we were when we began collecting 15-20 years ago. Perhaps it's a matter of maturity levels. Also, as mentioned, above, this forum is more balanced between interest ...

Re: What is your favorite FOV item released to date?

Among the 1:72nd scale planes I liked the P-40B---despite its screw holes under the wings and the first Zero---same screw holes, though. I particularly favor the B-26---despite some small flaws---as it is the only version of this important bomber in this scale.

Re: Problem with Witty 109G?

It's a very crude tooling, AF, which I'd stay away from due to the lack of detail and some unfortunate join bumps/gaps. Also, on one of them, they put the swastika on backwards on one side----I've forgotten which. The Romanian one has a really awful bathroom tile apple green and, of course, horrible...
