Re: 1:18 AN-APS-6 Radar Pod for F6F Hellcat

Yes, the radar pod still exists. I have a couple left; send me a PM, if you're interested: $20 shipped (to USA). Here's the original thread. The pod was designed to fit the BBI Hellcat and does a pretty good job of that. http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25516 There was some int...

Re: No 8 Models: German Bomb Dolly

Hey fellas. Next release from my Shapeways store will be a Bomb Dolly for use with the 1/18th Stuka's, 190's and 109's. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t3/nadodesign/BombDolly.jpg Need some feedback on a few things. Do you want the wheels to rotate? I'm probably going to make the arm jack fixed....

How do you determine your price? They are not even numbers. > Shapeways charges based on the cubic volume of material used by the model multipled by the type of material. For example, a solid one inch by one inch cube would cost $5.00 in the material white, stong and flexible aka "WSF". Based on Sh...

Re: Battleground Toys - Updated 12-8-2012

I've been in contact with a customer service rep from Shapeways, and sent photos of the problems my kit exhibited. They're going to get back with me: we'll see how that goes. Am hopeful for a quick and satisfactory resolution.

The kit is very finely done. Kudos to grunt1 for an excellent product!

Re: Battleground Toys - 3 days - Shapeways 15% off

grunt1, The Kettenkrad print from shapeways was a major fail. The handlebar, siderail and fender frame "wires" are all twisted or broken. The thing came semi-embedded in a brick of WSF powder, so I suspect the person removing/cleaning it realized there were print issues and stopped. I'm not sure wha...

Re: Battleground Toys 1:18 Kettenkrad - Finished Build Pictu

Yes it's all fixed now with a much more accurate front end, particularly the forks and fender. The Notek is present as well. I'm waiting on the first one to arrive to make sure it looks as good as the drawing. That takes two weeks, so after that if all is well you should be good to go. It's also a ...

Re: Badly damaged aircraft that returned home safely

In 1983, an Israeli F-15 was involved in a mid-air collision that took off the starboard wing; the fighter returned safely to base. Here's a link to a History Channel video. A lot of the video is not true footage of the aircraft but constructed from other sources, but there are some real photos of t...

Congratulations, you beat me to it! I have been meeting with people in this industry for a few months now. A good experiment would be, seeing if you can successfully up-scale a 1\35 tank or turret to 1\32 or a cool 1\72 figure to 1\32. The possibilities could be cataclysmic!!! The PLASTIC GENERAL A...

Re: Anyone up for scale replacement Undercarriages?

For me, the landing gear are often an issue in this scale: I like to display the models on their gear, but out of the box they typically look like they're sitting on stilts (the P-51s are especially bad). Had thought of making replacement gear to correct the ground stance. Like you say, though: it d...

Home 3D Printer Project: 1/32 V-1

Found this thread the other day on LSP: a guy bought a 3D printer and is making a 1/32 V-1 kit as a learning experience. He plans to make the basic parts via the printer, scratch-build the details and produce a resin kit from the final master. Thought people on this forum might enjoy following it. h...

For the control surfaces, you might be able to use a small blob of blue Tic-Tac mounting material/clay. My Hellcat also has major droopy control surfaces. Looks kinda silly with BOTH ailerons drooped, and the flaps dangling. In your photo, the fuselage almost looks like it's bowed outward on the rig...

Re: Picture help

It depends on what you intend for the photo, and the quality of the original. A good photo at 800x600 is more helpful at conveying a message than something poorly lit and out-of-focus at 3MP. I usually post at 800x600(ish), with minimum JPEG compression (e.g., 10-largest filesize ~150kb). It does ta...
