Re: Issue At Fighting 1/18 Sight
Its "The Curse". We try not to talk about it but it tends to show up every now and then. Just the mere mention here of its presence could very well put this site in jeopardy too. So its probably best to keep it to ourselves.

A magician never reveals his secrets. However, once I'm done I'll be sure to post a few photos. As it is, everything I see in front of me now has already been posted by others here.supersonicfifi wrote:BEEAVISION : we need pictures ASAP : pictures ! pictures !!!!!!

Just removed my canopy and was able to close up the gap under the left wing. Now onto overhauling the cockpit.

Looks like it belongs in the air. Need to find room to hang mine. Maybe with a few F-18's. Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
No with the negative out of the way here is a list of the positives I've found with the jet. 1) Landing gears seem well made and are quite strong enough to hold up to the weight of the model. With that said they are still plastic and may break if handled inappropriately. Landing gears retract up and...

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
I haven't been able to remove the canopy yet but still working on it. The discussion regarding the gap between the wing and main fuselage is true for me as well. I'll fix it later. I've put together a list of items I've discovered so far. I did not include reference photos as I would prefer to leave...

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
Just received mine in the mail today. The harrier looks simply amazing in person. My canopy unfortunately is completely glued shut so I wont be able to take it off without using an exacto knife along the sides. You can see the glue throughout the seams. No dabs here. So I guess it varies quite a bit...

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
Sounds like a possibility. Gun pods would be nice too. :) I will be receiving mine tomorrow. There are other issues with the jet I've discovered but I will try and keep my mouth zipped about those. As they say, "What is seen, cannot be unseen".    Over all, I think Merit...

Sorry for the above post. I realize this thread is about the Skyhawk but just couldn't resist sharing. Maybe another thread post is in order.

Surprisingly, I've always had a fondness for the A-6 Intruder ever since the movie Flight of the Intruder came out.

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
Greetings: The F-16 if you remember was overscale...how in the world do you make that measurement error? Corey Yeah, which almost happened again with the harrier especially with the fuel pods. Good thing Merit caught the mistake before they had sent it off to production. You can read more about it ...

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
Aviatornut, thanks for updating us on the canopy. That's good to know. I must admit the last photo of the jet upside down fooled me for a brief minute. I had thought I was actually looking at a real jet.

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
Aviatornut, be careful pairing up photos of the model with too many of the actual photos of the jet. May just give us more to fuss over. Then again this is a review thread.

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
Sorry to sound like a fussbudget but in those photos of the model it looks like the pilot/ejection seat is positioned a little further up which may explain why the pilot figure is pressed up against the dash controls. The seat should be in line with the leading edge of the intake. I wonder if that w...

Under the right lighting next to the F-14 it sure looks too good to pass up despite a couple of flaws. Keep posting those pictures.

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
If its true there is no sliding track for the canopy I may have to add them on so I don't have to keep gluing it in place to prevent it from falling off every time I handle it. I don't think it would be that hard to do.... at least for me anyway. As for the cockpit & controls I will probably have to...

Re: REVIEW OF THE 1/18 scale Harrier AV-8B
Looks like they changed out the name of the pilot. The prototype was Lt. Col. Bret "Critter" Ritterby but now it is Capt. M. "KC" Tallor who doesn't even register online as a real pilot. I wonder if they had to make up the name last minute to avoid paying any royalties. Not really a big deal for me ...

Re: Any Scoop on the new 1/18th Scale Harrier...?
The holes along the bottom are for the ventral fins. No gun pods this round unfortunately. Maybe the second release will have them. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Despite no gun pods though the jet looks pretty amazing so far.

Re: Any Scoop on the new 1/18th Scale Harrier...?
ETA has just changed to Sept 2015. We are still in the third quarter so the harrier remains technically on schedule despite my own impatience.

Agreed. Nothing against Merit nor JSI. Just that we are all running out of patience for something too great to ignore. As Geico would put it, "Its what we do".
