The story about Lucy Malcomson is true. Plane was painted "Lucybelle". At this time (1943) Miss Malcomson was married and had an affair with Boyington. Still Sense Harada's collection. A6-M2 Type 21. Light navy grey as seen on the kate, Val and Claude. The diorama was made from mr Harada's archives. It shows a Japanese airfield with GAM Betty, Zero fighters and two Officer's Zeros. Pretty interesting (The jakets are originals). http://img8.imagesha...

-- There are in Japan a very few aircrafts which have been kept almost untouched since the end of the war. Most of them are in museums. Here are a few of them (restored and unrestored) : D4-Y "Comet Judy" - Yasakuni Tokyo. http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/7866/d4yaboverear3.jpg http://img132.image...

Go for it. :D The BBI Zero is a lovely detailed bird. Pretty small and fragile compared to the rough 21st stuff but in scale and again, very detailed. So... I passed on the Pearl Harbor Zero as soon as I heard about the upcoming Sakaï Reisen type-0 (It was great news). I wanted a "white zero" (obvio...

About Saburo Sakai : Several years ago, a former Dutch military nurse contacted the Japanese Military, attempting to locate a Japanese fighter pilot that spared her life over New Guinea in 1942. She was flying in a Dutch military C-47 at low altitude over dense jungle. On board were 11 wounded soldi...

At the end of the war, because of a lack of funds or bombed factories, some squadrons did not received enough paint to cover the planes. Some had the grey factory primer and the "spaghetti camo" because in some cases they didn't have enough paint to cover the whole aircraft so they had to improvise....

Usually, shipping from USA to Europe is pretty cheap. Even if I had to pay my birds almost $150 each shipping incl. The most expensive post is to me the British post (very expensive, poor service) and the less is Australian post (pretty cheap and never had a problem with them). I collect lots of stu...

A few other pics. Most of these pics were colorized unfortunately. The only good Reisen type O pics are those taken by American, New-Zealand and Australian forces at the end of the war. It seems the Japanese didn't have color films at this time. A6M2s from Akagi Carrier, circa 1941. http://img189.im...

The nickname of those Corsairs were "Killer Bees" because of the livery. Also, the French Corsairs were F4U-7. The last Corsairs built. The Americans used to call them the "FFO Corsairs" (For French Only). They were used in Algeria against the arabian rebels and against the arabs in Egypt during the...

These are sold as completed models. They are built by profesionnals modelers who are usually selling these babies to museums or people who can afford them. I read they have sold some in the Gulf emirates. 1:18 Focke-Wolf 190D "Dora" Long Nose : http://img45.imagevenue.com/loc1107/th_22851_fw190_712_...
