Re: 1/18 FW 190A - BACK OPEN

Thanks for the update Tman, and maybe thanks for getting the wheels rolling on a U.S. container!?! I'm usually on deck for a new release, but glued canopy on the Harrier was a deal breaker. I'm up for a 190 or two, so c'mon Merit, get your shit together!

Re: 1/18 FW-190A?

Looking at Aiken's today - they have the FW avail as a pre-order with a release date of 12/31/15. Not sure how long that's been there, but first time I've noticed it.

I passed on the Harrier (canopy doesn't open?!) but the 190 still has my interest.

Re: Is Bad Cat about to give up the ghost...?

Good to hear others' experiences with Bad Cat. They were my gateway as well for 1/18 for years, until odd service & "onWu" drove me away. IIRC, BC Rob went in pretty deep & got hosed by Spotcat - a whole big shipping container full. BC quickly changed their return policy, tried to stick some custome...

Sad to post this, but Fantasy of Flight is closed to the public. Now only open to group & private event rentals.

Re: JSI Merit ME-262 "Edelweiss" 1:18

My Edelweiss Me-262 just arrived - opinion follows: The old 21st 262 is one of my favorite 1/18's - but it took a few tries to get one that wasn't a train wreck. There are still flaws in the new one, but it's a win overall. The paint is a complex scheme more suited to a pro-modeler, so I'm impressed...

Re: posted some cool pictures from an aircraft junkyard

Great thread & good stories! (I say keep 'em coming) I can 2nd the Fantasy of Flight/B-17 experience. I was there years ago, thinking it was a fluke "well, this is awesome - only a matter of time before they close it to the public". I just checked the website and yeah, you can still walk through it....

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION

Got my Dauntless together. I barely had it out of its box before I went upstairs & ordered another. Tman's review is spot on. My favorite paint job in the collection to date - great scheme & impressive weathering. Jim@Merit - very, very nicely done! The folks that put this together did some excellen...

Re: Red Tails...

Just got back from the movie - I thought that the flying sequences were great and the rest was tolerable to enjoyable in places. Some scenes are little more than animated aviation art - but I'm okay with that, it looked fantastic! Off the top of the head, can't think of another movie with this much ...

Howdy lads, I lurk around on the 1:18 forum, and I'm grateful for what I learn. Unlike some here, I don't feel that AllGo owes me anything. Rather than try and dictate terms to AG (build me this, with these features, and at this price!) I buy or pass based on what's presented & at what price. I wish...

I lucked out. Nothing broken or missing, no serious QC issues (besides, you know, spots ). Thanks to you guys, I knew about the landing gear issues & kept mine off its feet. Step glued shut like everyone else's, left it that way. Floppy Radar Disorder (FRD), got that too. All said, love this plane. ...

And the verdict is:

" item arrived intact... very unusual piece...as described "

Hard to beat the paint scheme on the 21st. My 21st 262 came with fit & finish flaws - partially-glued engine, gaps where the nightfighter's cockpit would be. Up close, not one of my better 1/18 planes. The weighted nose is a good idea, but too heavy. If you're the type that takes them out of the box...
