Re: Dragon to issue new 1/18 Space figures

I can definitely see 1/18 versions of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo spacecraft as "practical" in 1/18, as well as spacecraft from the Russian program and the "New SPace" vehicles like SpaceX's Dragon. The largest of these would be about the same size as a large 1/18 ground vehicle. A big issue woul...

Re: 1/18 V2

mmmmm so the ideal setup would be to have a warm print bed area, but have the actual print hardware/electronics kept cool? Yes. It turns out the thermal balance between keeping the things you want hot hot and keeping the things you want cool cool is a bear. For instance, when Makerbot went to a ste...

Re: 1/18 V2

That will be lots of sanding  It's the nature of the beast. There's going to be sanding with this fabrication process. Doing it this way with a heavy coat of putty up front just gets most of it over with early in the finishing process, or so it's been with the small parts I've been using thi...

Re: Floppy Flaps and Ailerons

I looked at a plane of mine that had the problem. I added a few drops of CA glue around the hinge and kept moving while it dried so it would not lock it in place. It made the control surface stiff and seamed to work! Careful though! I've done that, and also especially for the floppy elevators on P-...

I doubt it would be a Superhornet -- that's such a different airplane that it would require completely new molds.

Starfighter Lives On

Here's a link to a program I've mentioned before. It' moving along and would be a great F-104 custom/repaint. One of these days (when I get time  ) I'll do it myself:

Having just finished the first of two "surges" in my real-world work, I've been able to devote a few hours to getting back to the V-2 revisions documented above. Hopefully I'll post some pics tomorrow or the next day. For now, the complete redesign of the fins and engine section continue to proceed ...

Re: New Merit 1/18 DAUNTLESS DISCUSSION

Love that Dogfight episode. Too bad Dogfights got the markings wrong. It's 1942, Battle of the Coral Sea, star, red dot, candy cane rudder, one shade of blue, not late 1943 on, stars and bars, tri-color blue. The general pubics don't know the difference, but we do. Makes you wonder why they'd go to...

Don't all space suits look the same? Not at all. Just in the main line of the the US space program you've got: X-15 - 1 Mercury - 1 Gemini - 3 (basic, EVA, and GT7 long-duration suit) Apollo - 6 (shirtsleeves, launch/recovery, orbital EVA, 1st lunar, 2d lunar, Skylab EVA) Shuttle - 5 (shirtsleeves,...

Very nice work. But these KG200 planes always give me the creeps . . . Especially this one, as the Jug is my favorite USAAF fighter.
