Re: 1/144 P-36 UPDATE Sunday 11-15-15

The decals came in for the tail markings. We have been using a company named I-94Enterprises for a long time. They have a large selection of medium to very small markings plus other items like stripes and checkers. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/Picture%202103_1.jpg http://i1255....

Re: 1/144 P-36 UPDATE 11-6-15

Time to add the side windows. I used Micro Kristal Klear. It is a great product, It reminds me of Elmers Glue but dries clear. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/Picture%202048_2.jpg http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/Picture%202050_2.jpg http://i1255.photobucket.com/...

Re: 1/144 P-36 UPDATE 11-3-15

Let me start this update edition by making a little clarification. This P-36 project is not going as first planned. I figured I would make this aircraft for Chris's diorama by cleaning it up and adding a few modifications. Sometimes thing's work out much better than planned. I consider myself an ade...

Re: 1/144 P-36 UPDATE 11-1-15

Surprisingly the canopy was very cleanly molded and fits very well. But it was molded in a smoke color plastic. Before I painted the plane I wanted to see if I could hand vac u form a new canopy using the models as a master. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/Picture%202048_1.jpg If ...

Re: 1/144 P-36 UPDATE 10-30-15

Well after much gluing, sanding, seam filling, re-shaping etc. I had to paint something to break up the monotony. I gave the engine a wash of thinned flat black paint. The front case was then painted in Tamiya gray and then was dry brushed with aluminum powder from a pastel stick. http://i1255.photo...

Re: 1/144 P-36 UPDATE 10-28-15

Well I thought I would be able to let the thick tires and landing gear go ( they were one whole piece) , but I couldn't and got the jewelers saw out and cut the tires off. I proceeded to thin down the landing gear doors and tires to a somewhat proper thickness. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh...

1/144 P-36 UPDATE Finished

Chris my son is making a Pearl Harbor diorama which includes a P-36. He started the P-40's then went to the P-36. I decided to do the P-36 for him. He's using a Furuta Choco Egg P-36. We found this aircraft to be 1/144 scale. This company makes many different aircraft in a variety of sizes that you ...

Re: 1/144 21st Century Check List

Your welcome guys, let me know if you need a close up shot of any of the planes, I would be happy to post them up. Let me add this note that should have been in the initial thread. This check list is not from the factory but from what my son and I have gathered. We are avid 1/144 collectors and when...

1/144 21st Century Check List

My apologizes if this was posted before, I do not recall seeing it. At the height of 21st Century / Ultimate Soldier's being in business they were making aircraft in 1/18, 1/32, 1/48 and 1/144 scales. Many of the markings on particular aircraft were the same for all the different scales. We are just...

Re: 1/144 aircraft pre-builts????

The Spooky is nice, it really adds to the Vietnam grouping. The Tabby, Spooky, and D-Day C-47's are all from the same set and maker. The gap is the result of how they made the canopy. I guess it was easier for them to do it that way instead of making individual windows. http://i1255.photobucket.com/...

Re: 1/144 aircraft pre-builts????

Yea Dauntless the Black Widow is another one that has gone way up in price. Here's a couple pics of ours. I didn't like the shape of the nose on the Olive Drab one it looked too short so I made a new one using the black ones as a master. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/Picture1757...

Re: 1/144 aircraft pre-builts????

Looking back it is amazing how the spectrum of 1/144 scale has grown in the last several years. I think the CafeReo, F-Toys, J-Wings, BigBird and kits like these display the nicest. It is true that a lot of the smaller pieces must be put on (a little dot of super glue does the trick) plus a few of t...

The Mavis is a CafeReo Big Bird. It comes in 3 versions. Its these 2 versions plus a silver one which I believe is supposed to be the prototype..

Another size perspective pic. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/LFront2cornerwindows4.jpg The 2 front side windows are in, once the glue is dry the edges of the windows will be blended in to the frames and body with paint. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/LFront2co...

Re: 1/144 P-38J Backdated to P-38E/F

The front windscreen, top canopy and 2 side windows have the Krystal Klear. Even tho it was upside down when it dried the top canopy concaved a little bit. Gotta think of a way to fix that. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/KWindscreentopsidewindows.jpg http://i1255.photobucket.com/...

Re: 1/144 P-38J Backdated to P-38E/F

Used vise and pin vise with drill in cannon gun port so I could make the window I am working on flat hoping gravity will keep the Krystal Klear from going concave. These pics are the first window ( the front windscreen). http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/Firstwindow1.jpg http://i125...

Thanks for the positive comments guys. OK so I completed the framework and put it aside to make sure all the superglue set. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623/repligun/FFramingCanopy3.jpg Once it was cured I sanded the joints so they blended together. http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh623...

1/144 P-38J Backdated to P-38E/F

I always liked the earlier version of the P-38. The sleeker oil cooler intakes were much more attractive in appearance than the later clunkier ones. It just looked like it was going fast while standing still. With the huge collection of 1/144 we have I needed to add this aircraft so I finally got th...
