Re: Morser Karl

One further word about the 1:35 scale Karl. According to my sources, the Karl without the carriage measured 5.11 meters or 16.75 feet (201 inches). If my conversion is right, that means a 1:35 scale replica would come in at almost 6 feet in length (roughly 70 inches). Thank goodness it doesnt come ...

Re: He-162 - Suicide Machine?

Hello, After revisiting the IXO He-162 Salamander jet fighter, I cant help but wonder how this machine could have helped the Luftwaffe or the German war effort at the closing stages of the Second World War. For starters, it was designed as a "throw away aircraft" where it could be replaced, relativ...

Re: RE: WWII G.I.s

If I may take the thread on a slightly different topic... Does anyone have any of the new Corgi six-figure 1/50 scale sets? If so, would they please give a review? Very nicely done! Good painting and detailing. Poses are nice, though fairly standard firing and running poses. Prone figures, wounded,...

Believe you're thinking about the JS-3. The JS-2 is definitely one of the most overlooked tanks of the war compared to its overall impact.

Re: Sweet Home, Alabama

Yeah, Alabama is not a good place to preserve aircraft outside... Er, uh, Aberdeen is up in Maryland., unless they moved it on us. I was referring to the Boneyards out in Kingman, Arizona. Nice warm climate, low humidity, blah, blah, blah. As far as Aberdeen goes, they need to bring in some o...

Re: Aviation

I would imagine its tougher to keep the aircraft intact over the vehicles. Larger surface area and more important facets exposed to the elements. They ought to ship everything to the desert, where they keep the old mothballed aircraft. How much damage can the scorpions and rattlesnakes cause? :P Li...

Re: Museums

Hoverbug, Would it stand to reason that if the Army plans on erecting a museum at Fort Belvoir, they might be planning to comandeer the vehicles already being restored for their own exhibit? Otherwise, where are they getting the vehicles from? Lightning2000 www.themotorpool.bigstep.com I'm sure som...

Being in the museum business, I can easily guess that to even put up a temporary structure would absorb most of their fund-raising efforts. The Army museum system is an absolute shambles and receives barely enough from DoD to sustain even minimal attempts at restoration. The National Museum of the U...

What you're seeing at Wal Mart are the 21c/NMT 1:48 scale military vehicles. They have several WWII US & German vehicles as well as some modern US Hummer variants. They do look similar. There's also some 1:50 scale vehicles made by Corgi that can also be found at WM. The 21st C "1/48" models are in...

Re: Horten "Flying Wing" BOMBER

I'd like to see the proto-type "Flying Wing" BOMBER,.. by the German, Horten Bros.,which directly influenced our "Stealth" projects. Actually Jack Northrop almost entirely ignored the Horten brothers' developments. The massive XB-35 flying wing bomber was under development way before the Horten IX ...

These are the old Vitesse/Victoria line from the mid-'90s being reissued. Contrary to what the bos says, they are actually 1:43, so if you put them next to the Corgi armor, you'll find them pretty out of scale. :?

Re: A little FOV Detail that has Nothing To Do with Anything

There were probably any number of "Suvorovs" painted on Soviet tanks. A bit like a southerner painting Robert E. Lee on his. http://www.ganesha.org/hall/suvorov.html The Cyrillic writing on the side of the S1 FOV 1:32 T-34/85 tank is aparently a Russian last name. Translated into English, it reads "...

Even if it is all plastic, at least they have afixed it to a stand. The problem with the Tamiya Masterworks was that they were too fiddeley and routine movements were likely to result in damage.

Re: decals for P-40

You should have had a decal strip with the two markings seperate in the box. If not, 21st should send you one.

1:50 for the troop sets. There were some individual figures in 1:32 as were all of the aviation figures.

Re: funny scale...

It should. All of these (except the helicopters) are remakes of the now-defunct Victoria line, which were all 1/43, so beware of these so-called 1/48 series, because they aren't. The 3/4 tonner is closer to, or at, 1/43rd scale. I put it next to a 1/48th M4A3 and the truck was as big as the Sherman.

It is actually rare to have counter-rotating props on a twin as it requires two different engines and thus two entirely different supply chains, assembly lines, etc., thus greatly increasing the cost and maintenance effort. The only time it is noticed is if one engine is lost, there will be a bit mo...

These seem to be a much better option than the 1/35 Masterworks, which though very nice, are both expensive and very fragile. These are still incrediby detailed, but are far safer on their secured bases and much more affordable. Let's have some more!

These are really good. If ordered from HLJ or Lucky Model, they're not that much worse than Cyber-Hobby stuff, shipping included. I'll be over the moon if they release the infantry figs as painted in this scale.
