I'm not sure about the claim that the photo shows the lost FT-28 airplane. Flight 19's FT-28 was a TBM-3, the photo shows a TBM-1C. Maybe the plane was exchanged for the later version and the number reassigned? All the other Flight 19 planes were TBM-1C's according to this link: http://www.kilroywas...

I don't have the details right at hand, but some of the B-26's did return, including the one that buzzed the deck.

I love the OV-10's! I used to live in Columbus while they were being built. Even got to visit the assembly line on a high school field trip (later production for Thailand)

Great photo!
Thanks for posting the great photo, Grunt! I recall that this huge flyover of Tokyo Bay was specially ordered by MacArthur to occur following the signing of the surrender documents. Along with the swarm of Navy planes, there were also B-29s and other USAAF aircraft. Plus as much of the U.S. fleet th...

Yes, I vote a resounding YES! for the F9F Panther:

The Couger was a great aircraft, too, but the Panther was the one that saw much combat action in Korea.

Jason: Thanks for posting the new photos :D The Dauntless (my favorite of your new bunch) is absolutely beautiful! I understand your comment about being far into tooling. No worries...it looks very well done and I'm certainly looking forward to seeing it in paint and in person! I'll have to pick up ...

Yes, I agree fully with Spud. One basic paint scheme with maybe just the national markings, with no other markings painted on. Include or offer a variety of numbers, squadron or other markings. This would work for most aircraft. F-4 and AD in Navy and USAF (camo) paint, Dauntless in early blue over ...

I just wanted to liven this thread up. (No, I'm not TOO excited about the AT Dauntless....yeh, RIGHT ) Again, many thanks to Jason and AT! Whatever repaints they do with the SBD I'm sure they will be great! AT seems to have a track record of well-researched REAL historic airplanes. The SBD BuN...

I'm betting AT. Both Admiral and BadCat have given notice for a Sunday unvieling. So if this is true, we're looking at one item. If BadCat has teamed up with someone else, then the good news is that there will be two unveilings! I'm looking forward to seeing more up-to-date photos on the AT Dauntles...

Jason: I saw this good news in Pickelhaube's post in the 1:18 forum: I orderd mine today and had a nice conversation with Isaiah . I am glad I did. I came across this website by Rich Dann, aviation artist. Some great profile art and the author of several Squadron books. He did the profiles of SBD 2106 for Yellow Wings decals.

No, I never would've thought that! Very interesting, thanks for sharing!Do you know that the early model Buffalo was just about as good as a Zero? It wasn't until armor plating and self-sealing tanks that it fell behind.... Interesting factoid.
