Re: PaK 36?
The "36" refers to the year that it was accepted into service, I believe. If that's incorrect, I'd appreciate someone's educating me.

PAK 36?
I have a catalogue from them and it shows a Flak 36 for $99.95. They're referring to the 21st Century 1:18 sand-colored 88mm gun that we're all familiar with.

Re: FLAK 88 and 251 PAK 40 Gun Elevation
For the 88, mine wouldn't elevate until I removed the gun, carefully, from its cradle. Paint had adhered to the elevating teeth and the "catch" beneath the gun. I had tried to forcefully elevate the gun, but was afraid I'd damage it. Removing the gun and slightly shaving the "catch" allowed for rela...

Re:Soft Caps (Germans on R&R)
Can't say that I agree with you on this one. My Panzer Grenadier now sports an inverted coal shuttle from one of the later Germans who came with two helmets. I prefer helmets for the infantry and side caps for the Panzer crews. The 1943 field cap is OK for the self-propelled anti-tank guns and self-...

where did you buy them? Got em' from an outfit called "Action Collector"... never used em' before, but the service was fast and problem free. The Tiger aces were $17.95 and I also got a set of Anzio Germans (4 total) for $14.95, priority mail shipment from California was $8.95 which I think is quit...

I had written earlier that the 190A-8 Red 19 has shown up in the Raleigh, NC area Wal-Marts. As always, watch out for quality control. My first Red 19 had a noticable paint brush stroke of the wrong color on the port wing and also had a gray painted outer wing cannon bulge on that same wing. That bu...

I found one 32X FW-190A-8 "Red 19" and one shark mouth P-51 at the Fuquay-Varina, NC Wal-Mart today. This is the first FW190A or F model that has appeared in my area. Naturally, I picked up the 190, my first 32X aircraft. The shark mouth P-51 showed up a couple of weeks ago at the Cary, NC TRU. Of t...

Dragon53,
I forgot to mention that I'm a UNC-CH grad, for what it's worth.
(I didn't keep my word about being general in my writing, did I?)

Re: Michigan Toy Soldier
Dragon53, I've been hoping that another NC board member would show up that's closer than at the coast. There's at least one other NC resident on the board, but, as I said, he's on the coast which I don't get to very often. As you probably know, Cary has a TRU and I think Durham has one also. They're...

Re: Michigan Toy Soldier
I've not bought any planes, but have bought other merchandise before. There are pros and cons in dealing with them. They often have the lowest price if you factor in the Preferred Customer Number that you can easily get from them. This has worked to my advantage with some of the Minichamps tanks and...

The Cary, NC TRU had four 32X S1 Hetzers today. I picked one up. I've been pleased with the way most of the latest 32X armor releases have shown up at this TRU, the only one in Raleigh or Cary. It doesn't seem to get much of the the 32X aircraft, though I did see one RAF P-51D Sharkmouth recently. T...

The Cary, NC TRU has started getting 1/18 aircraft recently. Earlier 2 P-51s sold in about a week. They've had the "Seemann" BF-109G for about two weeks and today they had 2 P-51s and 2 F-104s. I was in a hurry and didn't notice which exact ones were there.

The Spitfire has FINALLY been made for 32x! It also sounds like there will be 2-3 variants as the line gets flushed out over the year. BTW- Those Marders and Hetzers are sure pretty! I found the FOV 1/18 scale WWII Germans and Americans at the Cary Crossroads Target this afternoon. I think I cleaned out the Germans; I got 1 each of the six Germans. I left the Americans. No 1/18 Shermans or Tigers.

The Osprey Publishing New Vanguard Series title Panther Medium Tank 1942-45 contains this excellent 3-view drawing of a Panther D of the 13th Panzer Division in Russia, Autumn 1943. I picked up the 1/48 Pz IV Ausf. H which is somewhat of a misnomer as the hull is actually that for a Ausf. D. The turret w/skirts is accurate for an H model however. The tank is completely panzer yellow which, from my research, is accurate for the 16th Panzer Division which was rebuilt after that d...
